Bar Primi is a pasta shop devoted to ‘primi piatti,’ the pasta course. What began as an idea for a small space in New York’s East Village has since become a downtown New York staple, housed on the Bowery for the last ten years. With this second location in Penn District, chef-partner Andrew Carmellini will carry on his same tried and true methods of making fresh pasta traditionally prepared and cooked to order, using a variety of non-GMO semolina and specialty ‘00’ flours, organic eggs and family recipes. Italian wines are offered by the glass and by the bottle. A playful list of signature cocktails, which includes the original Frosé, aperitivi, a robust beer list, amari and coffee by La Colombe are also features.

Wonderful location with inside and outside tables, great food with Italian taste and good service! Meatballs taste like grandma’s ones! Suggested Pappardelle Ragu, my favorite! Don’t miss their Tiramisu: delicious!

Absolutely fabulous. Food, drinks and decor were amazing. Waitress was sweet and knowledgeable, making great recommendations. We were seated promptly and had plenty of space. We’ll definitely be back!

Got to restaurant at 615 before an 8pm show at MSG. Didn’t get food until 745. Almost late for show. They took the drinks off the bill to make up for it but overall food was high priced and mediocre.

I’d highly recommend outdoor seating. The hostess was so affable and our waitress Noah was highly knowledgeable with opinions, which I always appreciate. She nudged my 18 yr old daughter towards the eggplant square and it did not disappoint! My sea bass was perfect and the strawberry shortcake (different name) dessert was out of this world. Excellent all-around experience and so convenient to MSG.
