Bar Primi is a corner pasta shop devoted to ‘primi piatti,’ the pasta course. What began as an idea for a small space in New York's East Village has since become an essential in chef and co-owner Andrew Carmellini's range: fresh pasta traditionally prepared and cooked to order. At Bar Primi, the main course is Primi Piatti. We use a variety of non-GMO semolina and specialty ‘00’ flours, organic eggs and handed-down techniques to create our menu of Traditional and Seasonal pasta dishes. We make more than a dozen different shapes and styles daily. This includes lumache and rigatoni from our imported extruder or ravioli and mezzalune cut and filled by hand. Family recipes and secrets are traded between Carmellini and Brooklyn-born chef-partner Salvatore Lamboglia who also offers a daily meat or seafood special in addition to a selection of shareable Piccolini and Antipasti, artisanal cheese, salumi and simple home-style desserts.

    Food and service was impeccable! However, I’m not a fan of sitting on the sidewalk to eat. Highly recommend this place if you can sit inside!

    Service is very slow and has been the last few times that I dined at Bar Primi. Food is great though.

    I had the lamb ragú and a glass of Nebbiolo. I was a bit disappointed as the ragú was lacking in flavor and yet very salty. The service was friendly.

    Another wonderful Bar Primi experience!!! My 3 guests are unable to eat gluten. The sheer numbet of delicious gluten-free options was incredible. All a part of what Bar Primi does! Unmatched food, cocktails, wine and, most importantly, service. See you very soon!

    Not enjoyed the experience at all. The food was okay, the service too, nothing above average, the ambiance was terrible. I would rank this as being one of the worst in my three-years being in New York.

    Bar Primi is such a solid East Village restaurant. Great service, great ambiance. Have been here a couple of times now and have tasted a bit of all the pastas at this point and they are all delicious and fresh. I will say that during this last visit, it felt like the pasta portion was much smaller than the last time I had dined there.

    We had a lovely dinner outside on the patio. The service was great, as was the food, the only thing I wish the restaurant had was maybe a fan or something to keep you from getting hot and sweaty while having dinner. Overall we enjoyed our experience and will be visiting again.
