Bar Masa features a bar made from a solid plank of African bubinga wood and walls of Japanese Oya limestone. When we visit NY we love to dine at Bar Masa. Half of the year we live in Tokyo and Bar Masa makes us feel like home. First thing to say - it’s expensive. You can easily spend $250pp … or even more. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Casual. Modestly quiet. No need to dress fancy. Last evening I wore a golf shirt and sweater and that fit perfectly well. My suggestion is order a few plates as a time to share. Keep a menu at your table and order bit by bit until you are full. While you are there make a close inspection of the many excellent whiskies behind the bar. They make for an excellent post-dining sip. If you’re into wine you’ll also be very happy with their extensive cellar. Highly recommended

I’ve never seen smaller sushi. It looked like toy food. We weren’t sure they were serious. Not worth the price at all but tasted ok. Will not return.

We came back here because our first experience was stellar and continues to be. Great omakase lunch with fabulous cocktails with great service!This is a family favorite and we can’t wait to come back.
