Wonderful food and service! Tables could be further apart but overall a terrific place! Good value since it is restaurant week.

Our server was fantastic. She made my wife's birthday perfect. We loved the fresh oysters and she recommended mixing east coast and west coast ones and that was a great suggestion. They almost tasted like fresh cucumber. Perfect! Overall everything was beyond expectations. Don't forget to try the caviar and hibachi cones! Yum!

The food is always delicious and the servers are friendly and have great recommendations. It is a little bit less “white tablecloth” than before - for example, they no longer change out your silverware between courses, but it is still an excellent choice for foodies looking to enjoy a contemporary spot in The Loop.

I usually love Bar Mar and have always had great service, but my experience yesterday felt different. Our server seemed rushed from the start. When she took our drink orders, I needed a moment to decide between two options. While everyone else ordered, I mentioned that I was choosing between two wines, but before I could decide, she started to walk away. I had to stop her and ask for a recommendation. She suggested one, but when I mentioned I preferred the other, she pointed at the wine she suggested again saying “I said I suggest this one”. I ultimately stuck with my choice but the interaction felt hurried and dismissive. The overall service felt rushed throughout the meal, even though the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. I noticed the server standing off to the side often, so it didn’t seem like she was overwhelmed. Maybe she was having a bad day, but this experience didn’t match the usual great service I expect from Bar Mar. Of course, I’ll keep coming because the food is exquisite, and the servers are usually very attentive, quickly clearing dishes and bringing the next course right after.

Love this place at restaunt week. Just the right size bites at a late lunch. Tasty and smart tapas, they last me thru the rest of the day. Hats off to to Jose Andres

I’ve never experienced the highest level of personal attention and service as I did at Bar Mer. Exceptional! The food explodes tasty in your mouth. The ambience is vibrant high energy. Outstanding.

Came in for the Reataurant Week lunch special and was not disappointed. Quickly seated and attended to immediately. First course was sent out quickly (under 6 minutes) and was delicious. The second course of lobster roll with fries was equally delicious with a generous serving of fries with aioli. Delicious food with a beautiful setting.

Went for lunch during restaurant week. Sat at bar and Hannah R mixed great drinks and gave great summary of menu. Neptune pillows were crackly bites of sashimi outside /poke’ mixture inside with a slight kick was delicious. Bikini truffle sandwich may be the best grilled cheese sandwich I ever had. Will come again and try dinner
