We had an early dinner at Bar Mar and ordered the "snack" tasting menu. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant was lively, presumably with an after-work crowd. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, making some great suggestions. The food was outstanding. Every course in the tasting menu was excellent. At our server's suggestion, we added the ceviche oysters which were phenomenal. The only reason I did not rate this with 5 stars is because the pacing of the various courses was a little too fast. We would have liked to have had a little more leisurely dinner. There are so many great restaurants to try in Chicago, so I rarely visit any place twice. But we will make a point of returning to Bar Mar as their menu is unique and delicious!

We did the full tasting menu and it was amazing. Would definitely recommend to others .

It was a lovely evening! Our food was delicious, and given our allergies, the possible changes/omissions were explained to us and made choosing delicious and safe for us dishes very easy. The staff was helpful, attentive, kind, and a joy to chat with. I would totally recommend Bar Mar to a friend, to all my friends, and I certainly will be back here!

Wonderful experience. Great staff and service in a beautiful setting. Drinks are meticulously prepared. We had the Hamachi cones, Pillows and Tuna Ceviche for appetizers. They were all delicious. For lunch we had the lobster roll and tomato bisque, Salmon Bikini and salad and the Cobb Salad. All were delicious. The salmon bikini was a little messy and fell apart. We had the key lime pie for dessert and it was magical. It had a toasted cream on top and it reminded me of a toasted campfire marshmallow. Fantastic. BarMar has become one of my favorite places in Chicago and see myself coming back often. We celebrated my daughter's 14th birthday here and all the staff made her celebration special. THANK YOU!

The food was fantastic. The space is very loud, which means you end up shouting at the person next to you. The service was ok. We had to ask for a napkin and refills on water were stingy. Might have been because we were in the outmost corner. Maybe service is better towards the middle.

For the 4th time I’ve made reservations and was told they didn’t have a table for us. They suggested we sit at the bar. Not happy. Clearly the staff is seating people without reservations. They eventually found a table and we moved to that table. Very embarrassing with a client. I’ll be hard pressed to make a reservation again.

Billy (the server) has amazing customer service and was educated on everything we ate and drank! I hope the company appreciates him! The food was delicious per usual and the ambiance is always great!
