Our server, Julian, was phenomenal. He was very attentive and made the experience even more fun. We went for the restaurant week menu (same items can be found on their normal menu) and were not disappointed. We had the tuna tartare, pan seared Sea Bass, royale with cheese and added two bougie chicken nuggets, which I recommend for a unique appetizer. The smoked old fashioned and French 75 drinks did not disappoint.

So slow it ruined the whole experience. Reservation was at 8:30 and we didn’t get sat until 9:30 and walked out at 11;30. Absolutely insane and only got two drinks out of it because the service was so bad and slow and waitress barely paid attention to us. Will not be coming back

Waited an hour and 15 minutes past our reservation time. The food was cold when it came out. We did the CRW 2025 menu with the drink pairing. Dessert was two bad macaroons, the wine pour was super small, and to rectify us waiting so long past our reservation, we could choose from one free appetizer with a low max. Everything was completely mid at best.

The food was great and the staff was wonderful. We made a reservation but we were running about 15 minutes late, they were super accommodating and we were still able to be sat on a Friday night. Our server was great and attentive. The noise level was loud but we were celebrating a birthday. Might be a tough date night spot

Great atmosphere, with good drinks and short menu of well done dishes and offerings. Happy hour menus has oysters and some good deals.

Bar La Rue is a beautiful and darling French restaurant! I very much enjoyed my visit during Chicago Restaurant Week. Their Kale & Endive salad, Pan Seared Sea Bass and Steak Frites were particularly hits in my book. I absolutely loved the crispy skin of the sea bass, crispy fries paired with fragrant garlic aioli. Our server, David, and hostess were both extremely friendly. Thank goodness for David's patience, as it was a cold afternoon and I asked the poor thing to get me at least 3 rounds of hot water. He also gave us 2 sparklers to celebrate my friend's birthday. Thank you! I would definitely return for another round if possible!

Entrees took over 30 minutes to come out. Soup was lukewarm. Couldn’t taste the meat in the burger. Drinks were great.

Host and table attendant were accommodating but that is where it stopped. The table next to us as well as ourselves were not attended to thereafter. It was very clear that the restaurant was understaffed. After over twenty five minutes of not being addressed by staff, we unfortunately decided to leave, hence the negative experience and review.
