Enjoy an intimate dining experience at Bar Isabel - a cozy restaurant nestled between Toronto's little Italy and little Portugal, where creative Spanish-inspired small plate dishes are served alongside cocktails and an extensive Iberian focused wine list. The restaurant's elegant interior boasts an intriguing blend of soft lighting, curved walls and a beautiful mosaic tile floor.
Managed under the guidance of Maitre d' and Partner Alessandro Pietropaolo, Bar Isabel's menu includes a diverse mix of pintxos, conservas, seafood and meat dishes. Diners rave about the grilled octopus, the bone marrow and the ceviche. For dessert, the Basque cake and sherry cream is a must-try. Bar Isabel is open 5-11pm Sunday through Friday, and 3-11pm Saturday. Accolades include listings in the Michelin Guide, Canada's top 100, and 2013 awarded the best new restaurant in Canada by Enroute Magazine.

Dix ans après sa création, le Bar Isabel reste une table recherchée grâce à son ambiance de taverne intime et à ses tapas de qualité. Fantastic service. Marissa picked out an amazing menu for us- the best prix fixe I’ve had and within the price range I was hoping for. She knew her cocktails too! Really a perfect night.

We had an incredible dinner on the patio. Exceptional service and the food was delish. Just very very expensive for what you get.

I booked this dinner reservation more than a month out. It was a special occasion. Having only ever been there in the past during the colder months, I opted for the patio little did. I know that this was a caféTO, and not a proper patio. It was a shoddy set up and not one becoming of a restaurant often revered as Bar Isabel. There was no mention on the website of the set up. I did inquire with the hostess that what would’ve happened if it had rained that day? And she said that they keep an eye on the weather on the day off, but they cannot gurantee anyone seating indoors in the event of rain. This too, was not mentioned on the website. Had I known all of this, I never would have reserved a patio seat. When we first arrived the hostess was far from pleasant from the moment we approached. She offered us a small table that was sitting on the sidewalk in the midst of pedestrian traffic. We asked to go inside, but the only offering she had was at the bar, and we had to vacate in one hours time. We would not have been able to have a leisurely and full dinner as we had hoped. We have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions. The food is exceptional. However, my partner and I did begin to reflect on all our previous visits, and on what we were witnessing as we sat at the bar during those first few minutes while we were deciding whether or not to stay.Truth be told, the staff always seem unhappy and can barely muster a smile. It has always felt like we’re imposing on them and that we should just feel grateful to be dining there. If I had to sum it up, I’d say the staff come across as arrogant. Again, the food is exceptional, but for us it’s more than just the food but the overall experience. I don’t imagine will ever be back. There are a lot of wonderful restaurants in the city, who are more deserving of our business. Perhaps the mandatory 20% gratuity added on the bill contributes to this poor behavior as they are getting their gratuity no matter what.

This is hands-down one of my favourite restaurants in the city. It's great for any size group, and the food is always top-notch. They are very accommodating for allergies and GF restrictions, and the vibes are always 10/10. I would definitely Bar Isabel for a snack, lunch, or dinner!

I felt as though I was transported back to Spain. They really make the ambience feel very warm, cozy and welcoming. The drinks were great and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend trying the picaña. It can be overall quite pricy but relatively the same as other restaurants in the downtown area. I look forward to returning in the near future and trying more menu items.

The food was stellar. We had about 6 different tapas at the table, and each was was perfectly cooked with amazing flavour. Yea octopus. Even the bowls of bread was fresh, tasty and addicting. The service was very, very good too.

Service was exceptional. Food was fantastic and well priced. I believe our server was Liv, apologies if that’s wrong but she is the one that could be a stand up. Engaged and has really good menu knowledge as well as banter. The food speaks for itself. Been here a few times now and it maintains a high quality and standard. Consistent and most importantly delicious
