Enjoy an intimate dining experience at Bar Isabel - a cozy restaurant nestled between Toronto's little Italy and little Portugal, where creative Spanish-inspired small plate dishes are served alongside cocktails and an extensive Iberian focused wine list. The restaurant's elegant interior boasts an intriguing blend of soft lighting, curved walls and a beautiful mosaic tile floor.
Managed under the guidance of Maitre d' and Partner Alessandro Pietropaolo, Bar Isabel's menu includes a diverse mix of pintxos, conservas, seafood and meat dishes. Diners rave about the grilled octopus, the bone marrow and the ceviche. For dessert, the Basque cake and sherry cream is a must-try. Bar Isabel is open 5-11pm Sunday through Friday, and 3-11pm Saturday. Accolades include listings in the Michelin Guide, Canada's top 100, and 2013 awarded the best new restaurant in Canada by Enroute Magazine. Bar Isabel accepts reservations for parties of up to 8 guests.

Food was really good. Bread with olive oil, the olives, pork, mixed table of hams and cheeses, all of them awesome. The environment though is very loud, hard to listen to the waiters and hard to hear the people you are with, that is really bad, the acoustic is bad, therefore the music is very low and impossible to hear. 20% mandatory tip is a bit too much.

part of our party had a gluten intolerance and the staff was incredible about making accommodations / considerations to make sure all needs were met. It was very much appreciated!

In general was okay. The food portions a bit small. The waitress was nice, though, she took the bottle of wine away to open it. I noticed she pour some in a glass (without asking :( ) The "Patatas Bravas" were too salty and we couldn't finish the portion to share, again, the waitress assumed it was the big portion (we would've ordered the small one,). The pork was really good, the foie gras was delicious, but the portion small. The dessert (turron) was good, the bread and oil was okay, the croquetas were okay.

We had a wonderful meal. Excellent service, the waiter helped us choose dishes we wouldn’t have thought of and everything was delicious. The sea bream was a delightful surprise, but everything was lovely. Recommend the great wine selection, we went Spanish for both white and red. Just a treat

As someone who has a deep appreciation for Spanish cuisine and the vibrant tradition of tapas, I couldn’t help but be drawn to your restaurant. I admit I may have romanticized the experience, having enjoyed authentic tapas in Spain, where the atmosphere and affordability truly bring people together. Unfortunately, I felt that my recent visit fell short of those expectations. While I understand that dining in Toronto differs from the experience in Barcelona, the atmosphere here was overwhelmingly noisy, making conversation difficult and detracting from the shared-meal experience tapas are meant to evoke. Additionally, the $100+ per-person price point, coupled with $15–$20 tapas, felt out of alignment with the spirit of this culinary tradition, which in Spain remains both accessible and reasonably priced. I first visited your restaurant about ten years ago, and while I had hoped to find a refined experience this time, I left with the same impression. It’s disappointing to say, but I don’t feel it offers the value I hoped for.
