D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : "Chopped" winner Hamissi Mamba and his wife Nadia Nijimbere, both refugees from Burundi, pay tribute to the food from their homeland at this bright, community-driven East African spot. The multi-James Beard Award-nominated couple make hearty dishes like slow-simmered beef with fried plantains (nyumbani) alongside fellow refugees. Pro tip: a jar of the fiery habanero pepper hot sauce pili makes for a great memento from the meal.

Service could have been more attentive, more welcoming, especially for two senior diners who were new to East African dishes. We barely started to munch on appetizer chips when mains were served. Our chicken & fish entrees were quite tasty, nonetheless.

Absolutely loved our meals, especially with a bit of hot sauce made in house, and the great service and chill vibe made it all the better. Liked it so much we ordered an extra meal for takeout. Spiced coffee is a can't miss but you can't go wrong with any choice. Thank you Baobab team!

This was our first time dining at the restaurant. The food and service were excellent! We will certainly tell others and return ourselves.

Food was excellent. Friendly service. Very convenient for after seeing a show at the Fisher Theatre (within walking distance).

Quaint place. Glad we made a reservation. Friendly greeting upon arrival. We were seated immediately. Server made a great recommendation for the Samaki. It was amazing. Not fishy at all. Wonderful flavor. Ji Hibiscus was to die for. My daughter had the Kumuhana. Chicken was falling off the bone and taste was fabulous. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in checking out fabulous East African eats.

The food was perfection. I now understand why there aren't any salt and pepper shakers at the tables. Absolutely unnecessary. Will be back as soon as I can!
