Celebrated chef Peter Prime joins together with seasoned restaurateur Bernard Gibson to reopen as Bammy’s Modern Caribbean in Navy Yard at Yards Park. An updated showcase of ties to Caribbean food and culture. Named for the cassava root “flatbread” staple of Jamaican cuisine, the menu boasts an assortment of jerk options, curries, stews, oxtail, & more. Ample indoor/outdoor seating & takeout available. Terrific food with a bit of a kick. Everything was delicious: jerk chicken, rice and beans, beef turnover (empanadas?). Service was horrifically slow—only a problem because we had a show to get to.

My favorite Caribbean restaurant! Had a delicious virgin mojito and jerk wings with an order of breakfast bread to start; then onto oxtails with rice and sautéed cabbage. It was all so good! Our server, Dre, was so friendly and accommodating which made for a delightful evening all around. Will definitely be going back!

Not a good experience. You know it’s bad when they hand you a scrap paper with two items. They did not have a lot of food items. No mimosas for brunch?! While waiting I ordered a rum punch and app. The bartender rang up my bill incorrectly and could not reverse it. They did give me cash back. I never got my appetizer. No one cane to take our order or give us water. We did not stay to eat. We will not be returning. With many other brunch options in DC. Go somewhere else.

Unfortunately, it was not a good experience. I was told my drinks were happy hour priced but the bill was full priced and they wouldn't change it. Also, ordered 3 salads but only got 2. Had to wait a long time for the 3rd salad. I will not be returning.

The menu had limited items and some items on the menu were not available. The restaurants air conditioning was not working properly, too humid/hot inside the restaurant. Great location!

Came midday, the menu had a small selection and about a third of the items were not available due to food not being delivered that morning. Our waitress was also not very knowledgeable about various foods on the menu.

Owner/manager came and introduced himself and the staff was very personable and kind. The jerk wings were amazing. Drinks were good! Loved the oxtail and beef patties too!

I enjoyed my meal and the staff were great. The restaurant is very warm especially on very hot days. They no longer have festival or shrimp curry, however we tried a few new dishes and everything was yummy!

I’m all about island culture when I’m on an actual island, but the staff at Bammy’s was missing in action throughout our whole dining experience.
