Balboa Surf Club is an upscale American restaurant in the heart of Uptown, Houston, located in Post Oak Plaza. The menu places an emphasis on fresh seafood from around the country, including a curated sushi program, as well as salads, hearty sandwiches, a standout hamburger, and hand-cut steaks.
Beverage selections include classic house cocktails, and an extensive yet approachable wine list.
The dining room is made up of lush plants, intimate booths as well as a full service bar and lush patio.
Balboa is open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner.

Love this restaurant. My second time to visit and have a wonderful meal with friends. I love the ambience. I will be back again!

What amazing transformation of this space. It's beautiful and well laid out. After a small hiccup with the hostess stand, the evening couldn't have been better, We came to try the crabcake and it did not disappoint - was fabulous. Pineapple dessert cake was amazing - best ever! Wine by the glass and cocktails were great. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Would definitely return.

Servers constantly got our order wrong. From drinks to dinner. We use to like this restaurant, but we were VERY disappointed this visit. Goodbye Balboa!

October 2, 2024, dinner reservations. My wife's and my first visit. For starters, we had the coconut shrimp and an order of fries. Both, were delicious. My wife loves sushi. She ordered the yellowtail handroll and the veggie roll for her entree. She was very happy with both. I had the featured fish, which was Swordfish. It was excellent. The portions were generous and prices were reasonable.. Mayia was our server. She was very personable and knowledgeable. As first timers we had several questions. Mayia answered all of them cheerfully. Her answers were very helpful to us in making our menu selections. We look forward to returning and would highly recommend Balboa Surf Club. John W. Belk

A wonderful location for a business lunch. Service was attentive and on point. Appetizer select is good. Fried oysters were a treat as taste matched presentation. Table enjoyed the daily swordfish special, scallops and tuna with frites. A wonderful experience.

Lovely restaurant with a nice vibe, Somewhat limited but satisfying menu for the first visit. I was pleasantly surprised that the noise level was low and our table could enjoy conversation without yelling. Service was on point. I think they might need to expand the offerings to last in the long term, but this little gem suits the bill for now. Oh and, entrees not exboritant, but not a great value either……

All the food was delicious, served at the appropriate temperature and generous portions. The sushi rolls are definitely a must with unusual combinations that we have not seen before. Service was prompt and attentive. Love the way the servers change out your martini with a fresh chilled glass so every sip is ice cold. The quatro leches also had a twist to the preparation and we ate every bit along with the silky chocolate pie. We will return to try other items, especially the sushi rolls.
