An homage to owner Kris Lelcaj’s father, “babo” (slang for “dad” in Albanian) is a gourmet, all-day diner in Midtown Detroit. We will feature a menu comprised of creative, artisanal takes on comfort food classics that will be served up in a bright, lively ambiance.
We pride ourselves on carrying products of the highest quality and social responsibility from local, small batch producers. Brought in a friend of mine to enjoy lunch! Lunch was GREAT! We both had the wings and shared the truffle fries! OMG! Delish! I had a blackberry mimosa! Absolutely Delicious! It was her first time at Babo. Needless to say, it won’t be her last!!❤️

We did have a family with a toddler next to us that decided to play a children’s tv show through an iPad the entire time. That lessened our experience.

The ambience was great! The decor is cute and quaint! The service and wait staff was excellent and the breakfast was…Superb!! Oh! And the orange pineapple mimosa was 😍😍😍😍😍

I usually enjoy Babo. This time I decided to try the spring vegetable flatbread, and it was utterly disappointing. For $16.00, I expected more cheese (it was so skimpy) and well-roasted vegetables (about half the asparagus was too stalky to eat). The WORST thing, however, was the SALT. It was sooooo salty that I only ate half because I hate feeling thirsty all day after a salty (restaurant) meal. As such, I had to go home and eat more food because half the flatbread certainly did not make for a proper lunch. My friend seemed to enjoy his chicken and waffles. I wish they served a vegetarian chicken and waffles option. (How about some pan-fried tofu?? It's not that hard, I promise!) In fact, I wish Babo served more vegetarian options that aren't eggs.
