An homage to owner Kris Lelcaj’s father, “babo” (slang for “dad” in Albanian) is a gourmet, all-day diner in Midtown Detroit. We will feature a menu comprised of creative, artisanal takes on comfort food classics that will be served up in a bright, lively ambiance.
We pride ourselves on carrying products of the highest quality and social responsibility from local, small batch producers. The staff was friendly and sweet. The food was presented beautifully and tasted even better than it looked. The vibe of Babo is pretty laid back and comfortable, we saw lots of smiling faces for a Tuesday morning. I will definitely be back here again soon!

Food offering eclectic and good. Noise level a little high as foot print of the restaurant is small. Excellent cappuccinos. .

Our server was absolute perfection… genuinely warm, attentive and professional. Food was very good, as usual, with a nice selection of breakfast and lunch offerings. Waffle with berries was yummy; just wish you used real maple syrup.

Babo is among my favorite places to dine! The food is always very good and the service is excellent. Our server today was exceptional; attentive, helpful, and genuinely friendly. I invited a friend for her first experience and she thoroughly enjoyed it and plans to return!

The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were to die for! Our server was the nicest and provided just the right amount of attentiveness. I like that you can customize the mimosas with multiple flavors. I did Orange and Mango. Yum! The high ceilings made for a little noise when conversations picked up but not too bad. I’ll definitely be back.

One of my fave places in the D for weekend breakfast/brunch. Highly highly recommend the Creme Brulee French Toast and Kimchi Patatas Bravas…split with someone to get the best of sweet and savory. Need to come back more often.

Everything from my latte to the food was absolutely awesome. You are seated very close to the next table so if any advice, maybe just a little space. But, awesome experience and can’t wait to come again!
