Located along the Chicago river in the burgeoning Goose Island neighborhood, Azul is an upscale mariscos (seafood) restaurant serving an expansive menu of Latin-inspired fare. The concept aims to combine the ethos of an authentic mariscos restaurant with modern hospitality practices and all the touches of a sophisticated, lively spot.

Celebrating the rich flavors and fresh ingredients of Latin culinary culture, Azul’s chef-driven menu is brimming with refined representations of classic mariscos cuisine. Created by Executive Chef Michael Hernandez, Azul offers a variety of grilled, baked, fried and raw proteins as well as ceviches, seafood, cocktails and artfully arranged family-style platters.

    I used to love this restaurant so much. My boyfriend and I used to come here all the time especially when we first started dating. We decided to visit again the other day…. And it was disappointing to say the least. The food came out way too fast, which made it seem like it was definitely not fresh to it also tasted like freezer. Everything was bland which saddens me because the reason this place is because the amount amount of flavor and seasoning they put into their food. The pineapple was extremely watery. It’s been sitting in the fridge for days. The lobster empanadas used to be so amazing and now it only tasted like straight up plastic cheese.. Our bill was close to $250 for an entree, 1/2 lb of langostinis, 2 empanadas, 2 beers, 1 cocktails tails, guac and chips , red snapper. Never coming back unless it’s just for a drink, due to the lack of quality of the food. The service was great as usual and the waitress was very nice!

    We had a great time! We had the stuffed pineapple and it was delicious! They could have added more octopus and that would have made it perfect! The crab legs were amazing! They were seasoned to perfection and the garlic butter sauce was AMAZING! The muscles were delicious! That was my first time trying them, but they were delicious, especially with the garlic butter sauce. The steak and shrimp tacos were well seasoned and good. The only complaint about the tacos is they were greasy. I would suggest allowing some of the grease to drain first because it made the corn shells flimsy and the grease soaked all the way through. The jerk chicken taco was very spicy! Too spicy for me. Lastly, the calamari was fabulous! Just the right crunch and seasoned extremely well! Overall, it was a good experience. Karina was our server and she was great!

    The experience was poor from the get-go. When we pulled up for valet, it was "shut down" for 10-15 minutes. Traffic was blocked up and down Elston, and it didn't appear anyone was doing anything to rectify the situation. Valet eventually made it up to us by watching my car (pulled over illegally) and parking it when their service became available again. A very common wine on the list was unavailable, but other than that, food and drink were well above average. We had the whole red snapper and the seafood pineapple. The service is the real thing that won't be encouraging our return. The number of plates being delivered to incorrect tables was astounding; there are only about 10 tables outside. The pineapple and whole fish were delivered at different times, quite far apart. We ordered a side of tortillas with the fish and had to ask again when the fish was delivered and again after that. We asked for a box, and the server that brought it (the same one we asked) came back less than a minute later, looking around with no recollection of where the box was supposed to go. Different servers were waiting on us at different times, and the number of times someone came by and asked to take our menus away before we had ordered our entrees was ridiculous. Empty plates weren't timely bussed either. It's really too bad because the food was good enough to bring us back over and over again.

    Azul did not disappoint… A group of 9 of us celebrating 2 birthdays and we sat on the rooftop patio. They service was excellent and the food came out hot and fast. The food was delicious every bite. The drinks were awesome as well. The only thing disappointed was the guacamole and chips( the guacamole had no flavor

    Outstanding food and drinks! Our server was phenomenal and the ambiance is unbeatable. Try the shrimp tacos! 10/10 will be coming back here soon!

    The first thing we noticed was the noise level. It’s extremely loud in there. Luckily we were seated in the back where it was slightly less noisy. Unfortunately it was much warmer in the back. They have ceiling fans in other sections but not in the back. The waitress wanted to take our order right away. We ordered drinks but weren’t ready to order anything else especially because we were waiting for 2 more people (we were early for the reservation). When the others arrived, she was back right away wanting our order again. She was definitely pleasant but it seemed a little pushy. My husband ordered the Whole red snapper, which said it takes 20 mins. We were told food comes out as its ready. So we asked that the other dinners be delayed so we weren’t all done before the Snapper came out. Well the Snapper came out first and we ended up waiting for Taco dinners. Strange. A wine refill never happened. A side of rice and beans was missing. I can’t say the service or atmosphere were great (beautiful view on the river). But most everyone loved their food. We had a vegetarian in the group. The options were limited. She asked if the shrimp enchiladas could be made as just cheese and the waitress asked the kitchen but then suggested that she just get cheese quesadillas. Which came with no garnish at all. No even sour cream. The guacamole tasted like is was processed. The ratio of chips to guacamole was crazy. Hardly any and $2 for more chips. Same with the salsa and chips. Nice size salsa but hardly any chips.

    Food was mediocre…not bad but not the best. Crab legs was good but again nothing to be raving about it.. service was poor, took too long to be served and server only checked on us one time. It took 25 min just to checkout. Also our server had an attitude and “snatched” the card machine from us. Poor attitude will not come again

    Solid. The food was good, not great. Has the octopus appetizer and the grilled salmon. Service was good, attentive and checked in on us. We were seated inside and the music was quite loud. Maybe it's better outside, but unfortunately they didn't have room outside when we were there.
