Vivre une expérience culinaire comme si vous étiez à Cannes ou à Nice n'a jamais aussi simple depuis l'ouverture du bistrot français et bar à aliments crus l'Avenue. Entre un repas à l'Avenue et sur la Côte d'Azur, il n'y a désormais plus qu'une seule différence qui subsiste : vos yeux contemplent toujours les vagues de l'Atlantique mais de l'autre côté. L'Avenue vous accueille sur ce rivage, en restant sur les côtes orientales du monde dont vous êtes familier, à Long Branch, dans le New Jersey. Le restaurant flambant neuf a été conçu par l'architecte de renommée internationale David Collins et le résultat de cette collaboration n'a pas fini d'impressionner.

We have been to Avenue at least once a year for the last five or six years for Father’s Day brunch. This year was a little late and we wanted to go over the holiday weekend. And the place seems to be a bit on the decline. With the kitchen short staffed on a Sunday am it took nearly 45 mins for three entrees to get to the table. My husband ordered a mimosa which in the past was made with fresh OJ this time came out looking very pale and watery. (And it tasted watery). Our server was ok at best and had very little personality. From questions like “do you know what food you want” when we were approached for our order to the general clarification around the breakfast meat by coming up to me asking Bacon or sausage (and me trying to figure out context) since he forgot (and it still came out wrong ) training the servers needs to be a bit more top of mind for them. The food was ok. My husband’s brioche French toast had too much butter. My daughter had an omelette with cheese and I had the full breakfast which came out late after they got their food by about 5 mins and with the wrong breakfast meat. (Comparatively another table 3 feet away got their food within minutes). And while it was hot and sunny they seem to have forgotten putting out extra umbrellas to shade diners who elected to sit outside. Would we go back? Maybe. Need to make sure I check yelp or open table reviews in the future before attempting it.

I don’t think it was my waiter fault for food delays. We understand that it was a busy day. On my opinion they were short on staff not enough waiters & waitresses Almost every table had a complain To the point that I feel bad for waiters. I went to the manager to have a word abt our food We was missing 2 dishes & a side dish I feel bad because it was for my daughters bday So the dish missing was hers & mine. After slmost 2hrs waiting I asked manager to just forget abt our dishes & bring us dessert menu. Dessert arrived in time 😊lol At the end of the night manager forgot to removed our missing dishes. Good thing I double checked and told my waiter abt it. He removed them.. I guess I’ll avoid holidays at this place.

Extremely poor service for a place that was at 10% capacity. Our waiter almost ignored us and I had to constantly grab someone else’s attention.

Always love coming here! Food and service were both excellent. Profiteroles for dessert are a must!

Been going to the avenue for years. Ordered the same thing I always get (Beef Bourgione) and they totally changed it where it is that at all, it is now short ribs and mashed potatoes. Not good at all. I told my server I did not like my dish and he didn’t care at all and didn’t offer to switch anything. He was smug and unpleasant. Then one of the managers stopped and asked how our meal was and I told him we I didn’t like the new item and could we get it served with pasta instead. He brought out spaghetti noodles with spicy tomato sauce. Made zero sense at all. I really hooe they turn it around because we have always loved avenue

What a disappointment. Avenue used to be the place that was difficult to get into on a Saturday night, but recently the service has declined. We had a server that was new and knew little about the menu. Then, someone else came over to assist, but they were also new. So this begs the question, why so much turnover, and why so little training. Drinks were good but pricey. They were very basic with very little garnish to dress them up. Oysters were more expensive than other places that we've dined. Our party ordered the above and several apps to share, and the bill still came to about $150 per couple. I guess you're paying for the view, but this was our last time dining at this French restaurant, and we won't be recommending it to anyone. There are many other places to dine in Long Branch and along the shore.

We have had good experiences at Avenue in the past but this time the service was very poor. More than half an hour at the table until we got menus. We had to get up to get someone to take our order and they didn’t clear the table between courses. There was a wedding upstairs and the music reverberated downstairs so that you couldn’t have a conversation. But the main complaint is that at the end of the meal when we finally saw a manager and made her aware of the issues, there was no response at all or action taken. Very disappointing.
