High energy and gracious, Avenue Kitchen and Bar is a place where one can enjoy terrific cocktails and comforting, Latin-American inspired cuisine from Executive Chef Audiel Vera and his seasoned and attentive staff. Our food offers flavors & technique that will welcome and excite you.
We have seating available in our large dining room, our bar & lounge, a seasonally-opened outdoor area, and a small private dining space available for intimate dinner parties.
We are conveniently located on 36th Street, commonly known as "the Avenue" in Hampden. Metered parking is available in a full lot in the rear of the restaurant as well as the front and surrounding streets. Entrances are located at both the front and rear and are easily accessible for all.

Our server Denise was the highlight of our visit. She took excellent care of us and made sure that she assisted us in selecting drinks appetizers, and entrees that would please our palettes. She was personable and delightful and checked on us regularly and anticipated our every need! My only concern was the size of the catfish fillet on the sandwich for the price. Although it was delicious and perfectly cooked and seasoned, it was a rather small piece of fish.

This was our second visit to the establishment. Our waitress was attentive. Very nice and personable. The catfish sandwiches we got were amazingly fresh and the drinks( mimosas in different flavors) delicious! This dinner did NOT break the bank! We will be back!

Our visit to the Avenue Kitchen and Bar was quite enjoyable. The service was efficient without being overly intrusive. The food was delicious. We were the only people in the indoor dining room at the time and were seated next to a speaker blaring loud music, but the server had it turned down when we requested. Would definitely return.

The food was not good at all. The crab dip had no flavor and barely any crab besides the top of the dish. The fries were soggy like they were left in oil. The lemon drop was decent. The service was amazing, shout out to King. He was a great waiter, very polite, helpful and understanding.

The service by the server was excellent. There was a long delay in getting food from the kitchen and half of the food offered was not available The music was very loud and the restaurant seems to be poorly managed

Pluses, it's electric--DJ playing upbeat music, tons of smiles, heads bobbing--family cookout or sorority day-party vibes. You expect an impromptu line dance at any moment. It's eclectic--backroom speakeasy meets trendy bistro. The wait staff is friendly and engaging, bartenders bounce on beat as they mix cocktails. The menu is chef-inspired American-Latin-Mediterranean fusion but not fussy. A few snags: The restaurant the decor is worn. The back of my daughter's chair was separating, we were indoors but sat at a weathered picnic table (with an umbrella hole). There's a broken panel in the men's room and some repairs around the restaurant were made with duct tape. The menus are faded, flimsy, wrinkled paper copies. It took over an hour to get our food. We were seated at 2:30, ordered and got drinks within 15 minutes but our meal didn't arrive until 3:52. Other guests who arrived after us were served before us. Our server acknowledged the lengthy wait but offered no explanation, accommodation, or apology. The food was lackluster. A $24 omelet should be delectable. Mine was mushy and bland. The fried chicken was well-seasoned but dry. The website touts vegan options but there aren't any on the menu. Overall, it's a fun little restaurant with a fantastic outdoor space. I recommend The Avenue for weekend drinks and pub food, not sit-down brunch or dinner.

Went for brunch. They were out of coffee at 11:30 am. It took forever to order and over an hour to receive our food. The staff are inattentive and people had to wave them down to get their attention. They were out of items on the menu which they did not note anywhere or mention until we were ordering those items. The ambience is just weeeeird. It feels more like a nightclub than a restaurant/bar. They have a live DJ and blast music so loud you will not be able to have a conversation. I would not revisit.

I’ve been here twice and the food quality has been consistently amazing. The staff is super friendly and the environment is very welcoming. I cannot wait to come back!
