Aurum Food & Wine Steamboat is an modern, upbeat American restaurant located in beautiful downtown Steamboat Springs along the Yampa River overlooking Howelsen Hill. We were seated at 6 pm. A manager finally got us drinks at 6:20. We never were greeted by any waiter. At 6:30 I got a phone call from the restaurant asking if we were still coming. I said yes we’ve been seated for 30 minutes and still haven’t seen a waiter. I chased down the manager and also let him know. A nice young man named Cameron was sent to help us. Hr did the best he could as was handling some large tables. Wow don’t go there if it is a busy night. We were there the previous Monday and had a lovely time. Street tacos and grilled artichoke were great. Caesar salad marginal. On previous visit the lamb and the trout were excellent.

Evert we had was a winner. The Lamb Monti snd Duck. wing appetizers were out of this world. The Pappardelle , steelhead Trout and Crabcakes were delicious and ample portions throughout. We sat at a hightop in the bar so we were not able to enjoy the beautiful outdoor setting. A must go back place!

Two couple had dinner at Aurum in mid-September in Steamboat during their shoulder season. Made reservations for the outdoor dining area (which is a beautiful setting) but an all day rain and chilly evening temperatures made us change plans to eat inside. They happily accommodated our change. Full glass wall along the Yampa River made the indoor setting feel like we were outside. Service was excellent through out our experience; attentive but not overwhelming. Food selection was a little on the light side. They were out of the NY strip steaks, perhaps due to the in-between season. The bistro steak was good, although the sauce they out on top was excellent. Side dishes and “shareable” were limited but good. Pricing was below resort area norms, but again, we were there in between busy seasons. All in all, it was a fun, beautiful setting, quiet, and an overall pleasurable dining experience.

Sit outside by the river and enjoy wonderful relaxing views while being treated by lovey waitstaff. Solid food and varying choices make this a place to enjoy for return visits.

We had a really lovely dinner at Aurum on Sunday night. I'd mentioned a birthday when reserving, and there was not only a card signed by all the employees, but dessert was on the house! My steak was perfectly done and served in a delicious demi-glace with asparagus, and the blueberry trifle was the perfect ending. The staff was cheerful and efficient, and best of all... it was quiet! We could actually have a conversation!

Aurum is always delicious. Happy hour on the patio in September sunshine is unbeatable. Be sure to order the duck wings any time you’re there. Fantastic.
