Inspired by St. Augustine, the Patron Saint of Brewers, Augie’s Mussel House and Beer Garden in historic Old Town, Alexandria blends traditional Belgium cuisine with a modern twist. Our creative mussel offerings can be thoughtfully paired with one of our extensive Ale selections. I made the mistake of ordering French dishes at basically a sports bar. The onion soup was watery and terrible. Their specialty, mussels, was tasteless. The mussels themselves were fine, but the classic sauce was bland.

Lot of screens to watch the Sunday games. The steak and frites were so good. The chicken and waffle was yummy.

Terrible experience! This is by far the worst restaurant experience. The server was tired, the drinks were late, the entrees served before the appetizers, the hanger steaks were cold, the burgers not cooked to what was ordered, no spoons for the French Onion Soup. When asked to speak with the manager, we were told that we would have to get up from our chairs and venture over to where the manager was. I can’t make this stuff up. We won’t be returning to this establishment.

I took my 3 adult children here on a Friday night. We had a reservation at 7 pm. They seated my 2 older kids while I was about 15 minutes late, due an Amtrak delay. Dinner was very good. The windows were open and vibe was really fun. The wine list was excellent, as was the draft beer list. My only complaint was the background music - it was incredibly loud - much louder than it needed to be to create a “buzzy” atmosphere.

We enjoyed the food, especially the mussels. Our waitress who was very nice was a bit disorganized. Maybe responsible for too many tables. Wine was not brought out til after the appetizer almost complete. Asked for spoon and additional bread, which showed up way too late. Would give it a second try.

Took a while for server to show up, he took our appetizer order and came back with our drinks. 25 minutes later he came back with to take our entree order and assured us our appetizers would be right up. 15 minutes later our entrees came with no appetizers. They then brought the entrees back, ran out with our appetizers which were cold. 15 minutes later they brought the entrees out, same ones, these were warm because they sat under a heat lamp. They put the salad under heat as well.

Honestly I was prepared to be underwhelmed but our meal was lovely. Service was slow but the cheesesteak egg rolls and two different kind of mussels were fantastic. Would definitely recommend and will come back!

Apparently Augie’s dis not have the A team working the night that we dined there. First, the host sat our family of 5 at a table for 4. Then walked away without even realizing his mistake. Then my husband and I ordered beers, which we received quickly. Our 3 teens ordered Shirley Temples, but didn’t receive them for over 15 minutes. And finally, our appetizer arrived when we were almost finished with our mains, with no apology or explanation. Bizarre!
