Augie's French, a Stark Reality Restaurant by Mark & Terri Stark, offers elevated service in a comforting and enchanting atmosphere in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa. Recognized as a "Top French Restaurant" in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Chronicle and featured in Sonoma Magazine's "Best Restaurants" in Sonoma County, our menu embodies French Bistro classics. Enjoy Onion Soup Gratinée, Steak Frites, seasonal local vegetables with a French flair, and a classic Beef Bourguignon known to evoke tears of delight.
Our wine list is comprised of exclusively French selections, and the bar specializes in classic French aperitif cocktails. Happy Hour and a limited bar menu are offered daily from 3-5 pm, featuring items you won’t find on the dinner menu.

Very good service and food. The escargot and French onion soup were delicious. The steak frites and duck were very good. Nice atmosphere.

Our first visit and it certainly will not be our last! Wonderful food: we ordered the classic escargot and then the duck confit. Everything was perfect! The service was wonderful! Everyone helps each other. It flows so smoothly. The Stark Family are really superb chefs and restaurant owners. We had a delightful French Pinot Noir available by the glass. Lovely!🥰

Too French? When we have eaten in France, we expected the waiter to leave us alone unless we call them over. I did not expect the same behavior in Sonoma County. When we were seated, we started by ordering a bottle of wine. It came soon, but that was it. After sipping our wine, we waited 30 minutes without anyone taking our order. We finally spoke up and then a waiter came to our table. He asked if we wanted all our orders at the same time or one at a time. We asked for appetizers first, then salad, then entree. First came the salad, then five minutes after that came the first appetizer, then five minutes after that came the second appetizer, Then came the bread. We basically had all this food on our table at the same time. After we finished all this food the entrees came in a timely manner. The food was delicious, but the waiter never checked on us. After dinner, we waited to order dessert, but finally had to call our waiter over again to order. Overall, the food and wine was excellent French cuisine, but the service should have adapted to a more American timeline.

I felt like I was dining in France! This dining experience was amazing, and by far one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in a very long time. The cocktails were just wonderful, and the food was amazing. We came to celebrate a birthday and now we will be talking about how this was the best birthday dinner for years!

Very comfortable and relaxed environment. We enjoyed the flavors of all the items we selected with the Sweetbreads and Beef Cheeks Bourgignon being standouts. We also enjoyed the Duck Leg Confit, but found the portion to be incredibly small, unlike the portion size of the other menu items. When questioned the server stated that this was the usual portion size for the Duck. Service was friendly, but somewhat inattentive, and course pacing was slow, the upside of which is that we definitely did not feel rushed.

We booked the main floor but were brought the mezzanine level next to an loud party of eight. There were only 2 other filled tables other than ours. It was difficult to have a conversation. The food was also not as good as before. The service from our waiter was good. I do not kniw if it is because we are Asian but we never get treated the same here by the people who seat us.

Showed up for my wife’s birthday dinner last night for our 6pm reservation. We were initially seated next to a loud & boisterous group of eight diners in the small loft area. We asked our server to move us to a new table as we were feeling uncomfortable. Initially he told us they were full and apologetically did not have any alternative tables. We proceeded to depart and stopped and spoke with the manager on duty Jillian(sp?) on our way out… who thankfully accommodated us at the bar. It was a much better atmosphere there and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. I had the Duck Confit and my wife ordered the omelette entree after devouring a half dozen Escargot. It was nicely washed down with a lovely Chardonnay from Bourgogne. The omelette was prepared to perfection and I give high marks to my duck confit. We enjoyed sharing a Crème brûlée to finish off our meal. Overall despite the shaky start we were impressed with the service, food quality and value. We are loyal Stark’s clients and will return to Augie’s as well as some of their other fine dining establishments in the future.

I’ve eaten here several times, and the food is always delicious. If you like sweetbreads, you should definitely order them, they are phenomenal!!!
