Augie's French, a Stark Reality Restaurant by Mark & Terri Stark, offers elevated service in a comforting and enchanting atmosphere in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa. Recognized as a "Top French Restaurant" in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Chronicle and featured in Sonoma Magazine's "Best Restaurants" in Sonoma County, our menu embodies French Bistro classics. Enjoy Onion Soup Gratinée, Steak Frites, seasonal local vegetables with a French flair, and a classic Beef Bourguignon known to evoke tears of delight.
Our wine list is comprised of exclusively French selections, and the bar specializes in classic French aperitif cocktails. Happy Hour and a limited bar menu are offered daily from 3-5 pm, featuring items you won’t find on the dinner menu.

I'v been to the restaurant 4 times and loved it every time. The appetizers are so wonderfuI I have only had 1 entree, the Beef Cheek Bourguignon, which was tender and delicious. The service was delightful and efficient.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived at the restaurant was how warm and inviting the ambiance was. Their decorator did a fabulous job and the dining chairs were padded and comfortable. I appreciated that the wine list had a nice selection of French wines as well as Sonoma County wines. I ordered beef bourguignon and my husband ordered the buckwheat crepes. He was very happy with his dish and cleaned his plate. I have mixed reviews of my dish. The whipped potatoes, carrots, bacon, button mushrooms, pearl onions and sauce were very good and while the beef cheeks were very tender they didn’t have much flavor and about 1/3 of them were soft fat that I didn’t want to eat. Adding salt made the beef more tasty and overall a fine dish.

So happy Augie's is open for lunch. Had a great birthday lunch with a friend. Beautiful food, excellent service from Josh and delicious dessert. Cannot wait to come back. And love that they had happy hour too.

The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable. The service is attentive. The food is lacking. My salmon was mediocre and drowned in an unappealing sauce. The steaks were also drowned in a sauce to the extent they couldn’t enjoy the bernaise. The Brussels sprouts were so hidden in cheese could barely see sprouts. Onion soup was good but not the best I have had. Onion tart and duck sausage were up to par but overall disappointing especially at those price points.

What a little gem in Santa Rosa. We had a really great experience. Food was excellent!

We did not explore new dishes, just went with Steak and Frites, but the steak was delicious, done to perfection, nicely complemented by the sauce and bone marrow brown butter on top. The fries were also very good! We ended the meal with the Caramel Chocolate Mousse, smooth and creamy, a must to try. The service was excellent, even though the place was packed. The only less than perfect was our table! The only table upstairs, in the back, between two big windows which seemed to be single pan. It was freezing! I don’t like to dine with my jacket on, but I was really tempted to do so several times during the dinner. I am not sure what could be done about this, but it definitely tampered with our experience.

the food is always excellent but this time the service was very slow and the restaurant wasn’t that busy. The bar was loud due to one rowdy drunk guy. All in all we still live this restaurant.

I went for lunch with 2 friends and we had great service! The Salad Niçoise was by far one of the best. The tuna was seared to perfection and the dressing was flavorful and light. Just the right amount of all the ingredients and the right portion size!! Having dined there a couple times for dinner which is always good this was fantastic!!!

My wife and I found our experience joyful. Anticipating a draft whenever the door opened, we selected the mezzanine which we found to be intimate and quieter than near the bar. For our starter, we shared the crepe du jour. A meal in itself. We then ordered the Poulet Frites and the Gnocchi a la Parisienne as our entrees along with the Brussels Sprout Gratin and Button Mushrooms Provençal as our sides. Each entree was enough for two people as were each of the sides, so we went away with quite a bit of food for another day or even two. Given the portions and quality of the food, prices are rather exceptional.

We were looking for a great dinner spot on a Monday night while we were in town for business. Augie's was the perfect spot! The service was spot on, the food was outstanding and the wine list was delightful. We all loved the decor and accents, as well. 10/10
