The full price of the tasting menu is $385pp, and your deposit of $150pp will be deducted from this menu price on the evening. We require a deposit towards your food menu of $150pp at the time of booking, and this will be deducted from the total cost of your tasting menu at the conclusion of the evening. This deposit is non-refundable in the case of cancellation due to change of mind (including errors when making bookings online and changes in personal circumstances) or in the event of a no-show.

Overall: a very good experience as we can expect from a gourmet restaurant, however this is in our experience of fine-dining way too expensive. Food: some courses were excellent, some others were less interesting to our paletes: to much sauce on the main meat skewer, one plate with ants but tasteless apart from this. The wine pairing will certainly be excellent for people used to young wines, however for us (French, used to aged wines) it was not good. It is to be noted that we had only one red wine among 6 or 7 in total. Apart from this, the drinks menu was huge and for sure you will find good things! Service: most of the staff were friendly, except one or two acting like "robots" (neutral face, monotonic voice). For foreigners, despite being fluent, it was sometimes difficult to catch the course explanation due to the noise level in the room associated with the staff talking low and fast (we fortunately received the menu at the end of the dinner). Ambience: very good, especially the pub experience. Value: 1300 AUD for two including wine pairing. From our previous gastronomic dinners, similar experiences were generally around 300 to 400 AUD for two. Given the price, I told my wife when we arrived to the restaurant "it might be the best restaurant you have ever tried", finally it was a very good restaurant but clearly not the one we will remember.

While I'm pleased to read that you enjoyed the experience overall, I'm sorry you felt it wasn't worth the value, the ingredients we use are endemic and very rare and I'm sorry if this wasn't reflected clearly. Indeed it seems the overall feedback suggests a few things were not to your liking in particular but I'm very sorry we weren't able to share more of the story behind the choices we've made for the food and wine pairings here. Fantastic food with everything sourced locally. 1st class service and the ambience is just right without the stiffness of some other top notch restaurants.

Just an amazing experience all around. From the moment of setting foot in the door my partner and I felt taken care of guided through what I think is what an Australian cuisine should look like or be. Could not recommend this experience enough.

- Food is over rated. Experience is not. Original and fun. - Website shows emu eggshell serving some soup? Wasn’t in the offered dinner. - Wine pairing is poor, not recommended. Best to choose from extensive wine list. Best I’ve seen in a while. - No detailed menu so don’t know clearly what we’re eating. - Aircon slightly warmer than usual, dress accordingly - One waiter has strong BO, messes the subtle flavors and aromas. Unacceptable. - Many dishes are finger food but no hand wipes prior to starting. Use bathroom to wash hands. Overall this might have been a great restaurant but it’s over the hill. Ben the chef didn’t bother to come around to say hi to the customers. Perhaps he wasn’t even around. Sells books but didn’t sign them with the customer. Not recommended.

I’m sorry that you felt the wine was poor, I’d have happily stopped and switched you to the wine list had I known during the evening. Ben had signed the copy we gave to you – on the front page. He is very present in the restaurant; however, he mainly stays in the kitchen supporting the team. I’m very sorry you felt disappointed by this. Thank you for the feedback.

Absolutely blown away by the amazing food ambience and service. Definitely not over rated and totally deserving of best in Australia accolades. Each dish left you wanting more of that incredible flavour. completely satisfied at the end of the evening. If this is an expression of the restauranteurs personality and philosophy, he must be an incredibly fun, but sophisticated all round top bloke. Well done!

Very much worth it to try and learn about indigenous ingredients and dishes. I wish I forget everything and do it all over again tomorrow but alas I’ll forever have the pub excursion and kangaroo pie engrained in my tastebuds and memory forever.
