Amazing food, the atmosphere was not distracting and enjoyable, service was impeccable and personable which I quite enjoyed, the food was so flavourful and every bite had savouring the different dishes. I was especially surprised and pleased with the ice cream dessert.

All of the feasts/events at any of the three associated restaurants are an experience in taste, uniqueness, and exploration. The beef adobong bulu, a dish from the Phillipines, was the second best thing I have ever been served at this set of restaurants and I have eaten well over 1,000 dishes in the past decade. a second dish, the Grasshoppers taco, was my second foray into the realm of insects through their collaboration partner for this feast/event. They have a wide range of foods that should satisfy everyone in the party. Ate, of the three, would be the most child appropriate.

Mid-week dinner for 4, we were looking forward to trying this new restaurant. We made a reservation and they were very helpful in coordinating, and holding a table for us as we were dining with someone who couldn't do high/bar seating. Parking was convenient, at the Library/Broughton lot across the street. We really wanted to love this place; the staff were sweet, and we are so happy to see someone elevating Filipino food and trying new things, with local/quality produce and meats. My partner is from Mindanao so we're very familiar with the cuisine. We had a house made soda (tasty), a glass of wine, a glass of beer, and the adobo wings as a starter. Unfortunately, the servers did not know much about the wines, and our guest had some difficulty selecting one. It would be fun to see San Miguel or Redhorse, for what its worth - I don't think an exotic drinks selection adds much to the food experience. For mains we had lumpia meatballs (delicious, sweet), the beef kulma special, and crispy pata. Our guest had lechon manok. The crispy pata and lechon manok (chicken) were decent sized portions. The chicken was more blackened, however, and our guest said it was dry. We asked for more calamansi and rice and they were happy to accommodate. After, we had the buko pie which was a delicious take on the standard coconut pie, and three of the cookies. The cookies were tasty and moist. I really hope more people try Ate. It's fun to see what they're trying to do and Victoria (and Canada) is sorely in need of more and better Filipino food. They deserve a better space and facilities, and the people are lovely. Salamat!
