Chef Fredrik Berselius brings his love of nature to his urban surroundings through food at Brooklyn's only two Michelin-starred restaurant. With an emphasis on ingredients from the Northeastern region and influenced by his Scandinavian homeland, Aska, Swedish for "ashes," offers a distinctive dining experience through a procession of courses prepared from an open kitchen and served to guests of only ten tables each night.

    I have had the privledge of dining at some of the greatest restaurants all over the world and without question ASKA would have to be in my top 3 meals of all time. From start to finish from service to food, this restaurant peaked all expectations. We were visiting from Chicago and me like an Amateur booked on the wrong date accidentally. I was mortified because we had a flight to catch with only about 2.5 hours before to kill and ASKA was the only plan. We came in on Sunday for the lunch servce. Sunday lunch services are always tough for teams to work in the industry because lets face it, who really wants to work this shift. Not only did they sneak us in, but the chef and the team handled it like absolute pros,making us feel welcomed and me less unembarrased. They even accomodated my partner's food allergy last minute as well. They also stowed away our luggage while we ate. Our servers were absolutely brilliant with the level of hospitality with Johhny on the spot service and selecting pairings that complemented the exqusite food. This food from beginning to end absolutely slapped us with flavor bomb after flavor bomb. The progression in each course kept our palletes on a ride that you never wanted to get off. Each plate was a work of art that was orginal, ellegant, creative, and modest without the foo foo platings you sometimes find with chef's trying to over do it. The real treat was having the chef's come out to personally present the food they had just prepared for you and share the specialized ingredients and preparations that made this food so unique. With all the great restaurants New York has to offer, this city is lucky to have such a wonderful place. Michlelin Guide has it wrong with the 2 stars. I'd give it 3 for sure and an extra .5 for everyone being such rock stars.

    I don't think there are many restaurants left in the world with the culinary aspirations of Aska. If you are serious about food you must eat here! The food has nuance, complexity, only the freshest and seriously sourced ingredients presented in visual artistry. Summer dining begins on their terrace and then proceeds indoors...a relaxed hospitable event you will never forget. Wine assistance should be elevated to match culinary excellence. Best was roasted quail breast and langoustin.

    Had a fantastic birthday dinner at Aska. The servers/waiting staff/sommeliers were outstanding. The somm (Missy?) had perfectly paired wines to go along with the meals - she was amazing and explained the history of the wine in a fun way. The food was spectacular - I think the lobster and Langoustines dishes were the best I have ever had. Overall, it was the perfect amount of food.

    Great experience! The only feedback would be that we had some trouble hearing the servers describe each dish. Thankfully they gave us menus at the end of the meal.
