Asador Bastian is a Chicago chophouse with Basque influences from acclaimed Chef
Doug Psaltis. Located in the iconic “Flair House” originally built in 1883, this historic

townhouse has been revived and brought back to life with culinary inspiration from the
great asadors of San Sebastián, Spain to serve the world’s best boutique beef without
compromise. The most remarkable dining experience comes from the purest ingredients
delivered in the supremely thoughtful, welcoming and hospitable manner. This ethos
has directed every aspect of the experience at Asador Bastian, whether you’re joining
us for small bites and libations in our Bar Room or for a more intimate experience in our
Dining Room.

    At Asador Bastian we are excited to offer our Chef's Table; a one of a kind experience. Our Chef's Table is located directly across from our kitchen where you will have a full view of our world class chefs at work creating the dishes that make our restaurant so unique. The Chef's Table is an experience created for 6 or 10 guests. A deposit of $150 per person is required for booking this private dining room. The deposit is applied to the final bill. The event will kick off in The Bar Room at 5pm with a welcome toast and pintxos, followed by dinner in The Main Dining Room at 6pm.     What an incredible experience! The steaks are like nothing I've ever had before, but the service was really exceptional. 10 out of 10.

    Overall a superb meal. We booked a table for 16:00 on a Monday, therefore the restaurant was quiet to start with, becoming gently fuller which suited us completely. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable on the food and wines. The menu had plenty of delicious options. We sampled the lobster, corn and foie gras - delicious appetiser, followed by arroz cremosa and gambas Rosas - helped down with a fresh, sweet fruity sherry. The piece de la resistance was our main course. The wagyu beef was succulent, yet crispy on the edges, beautifully seasoned. Accompanied by the world class mash potatoes and bone Marrow the meal blew us away. We unfortunately could not stay for dessert as we had a plane to catch - but we still left full and satisfied. Well done Asador Bastian. If we’re back in Chicago- we’re back to Asador. Just please listen and respond to your phone messages!…..

    Warm and welcoming! Great Spanish/Basque inspired food in terrific space. (A little hard to find - very unassuming outside door DOWNSTAIRS from imposing front door to the house.) Nice Spanish wine list, very nice people - and delicious food! (I had crudo and beef tartare - both were exceptional). Go!

    Great food and service. Room is a bit small and tables are too close together. Nonetheless very enjoyable.

    A very special place for special occasions. Our server guided us through the complex yet elegant menu with ease. Starting with drinks through the whole meal was handled perfectly. As a steak lover, they nailed the experience. I do wish there was a dry aged option >28 days, but this is really nitpicking. Get the raspberry dessert and go for the gold old fashioned. Trust me.

    One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. The food was incredible - all the things you want in a meal: special, fresh, authentic and absolutely delicious and our service was impeccable. The wine choice was killer. We felt very spoiled and can’t wait to return.

    A conflicting experience! The food at Asador Bastian was exceptional - we started with the sardines and the nightly special (the egg and shrimp dish that was a surprising $45), then had the vegetable medley, bone marrow whipped potatoes, along with the Holstein steak. We were very satisfied with our meal. Service, however, was very off-putting. Our waiter was very pushy, spoke way too quickly and without waiting for us to finish our questions, and only recommended the most expensive options on the menu. He felt like a used car salesman - I'm sure some personalities would like his approach but he needs to tailor the experience to the guest. The couple next to us had the same experience and even asked to speak with the manager. Disappointing experience but the food would take me back there - I'd just make sure to have a different waiter.
