Asador Bastian is a Chicago chophouse with Basque influences from acclaimed Chef
Doug Psaltis. Located in the iconic “Flair House” originally built in 1883, this historic

townhouse has been revived and brought back to life with culinary inspiration from the
great asadors of San Sebastián, Spain to serve the world’s best boutique beef without
compromise. The most remarkable dining experience comes from the purest ingredients
delivered in the supremely thoughtful, welcoming and hospitable manner. This ethos
has directed every aspect of the experience at Asador Bastian, whether you’re joining
us for small bites and libations in our Bar Room or for a more intimate experience in our
Dining Room.

    At Asador Bastian we are excited to offer our Chef's Table; a one of a kind experience. Our Chef's Table is located directly across from our kitchen where you will have a full view of our world class chefs at work creating the dishes that make our restaurant so unique. The Chef's Table is an experience created for 6 or 10 guests. A deposit of $150 per person is required for booking this private dining room. The deposit is applied to the final bill.     Guys! Avoid this place! Steak was very chewy and fish (the special was scorpion fish which the server recommended to us) tasted like soap. We left the whole fish on the plate and the server did not ask why we did not eat it. I cannot even imagine why this place is still in business. I never leave any reviews, but I am sorry I can not stay quiet.

    Excellent food and service is top notch. A bit on the pricey side for the portions of what you get but the taste makeup for it. The crimson shrimp was the highlight for us. We ordered tortilla espanola, cured sardines, corn lobster foie gras, crimson carabineros shrimps ($37 each), arroz cremoso with spider crab, sole with almonds, tajima txusleton steak (excellent), bone marrow potato puree, fried artichokes and cheesecake. (Lots of food expecting the portions will be small)

    One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time our server Juan was extremely friendly personable and made us feel so welcome he described all the items on the menu and such detail,  his personal recommendations were absolutely fantastic! We will definitely be dining here again.  we live in the suburbs and didn’t want to make the commute because of the weather, but it was well worth the hour and 30 minute ride!

    Don’t especially like sharing food when we dine out but the food was very good. We celebrated our friend’s bday and all in all it was a very nice time. Our server was very good. No Cointreau for my cosmo, but beautiful wine glasses

    Indifferent server. Not very engaged. Asked specifically if our order was too much for two people and was told no. At end of dinner was told "yeah we have big portions" so it was a lot fo food for two.

    We have been there before and as always the quality of the food is great but the value has gone down significantly. The portions are smaller. We ordered the John Dory and were told it was 2.5lbs which you would think was enough to share with 5 people besides 6 appetizers and three entrees. We were served 5 tiny pieces. Maybe 2”x3” at the most for $165. It wouldn’t have been enough for someone’s dinner. We eat at the best restaurants all over the city and around the country and we were all offended by what you got for the money. $145 steak didn’t feed 4 people as a tasting. Quality was great but the value was not.

    The steak is amazing. I’d recommend the sardines and the seafood rice dish (Arroz Cremera?) Overall , an amazing meal.

    We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary and what a wonderful experience. All the food we ordered was so good. The octopus was amazing. The service was great and the waiter was patient and explained the dishes well. We will definitely go again and try other food on the menu.
