The hotel is well known for the friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere of its bar, restaurant and conservatory.

The use of bright cheerful colours in the bar, coupled with beautiful chintz curtains, comfortable sofas and armchairs has helped to create a warm refreshing feeling of spring and with two beautiful fireplaces and a magnificent Victorian style bar, the bar is an area where you can just sit and relax.

The restaurant, which is also adjacent to the bar, has achieved a reputation for providing some of the best food in the area in glorious surroundings. All tastes are catered for, thanks to a wide range of imaginative dishes that feature on its menu.

One section of the restaurant can be closed off for special events such as weddings, anniversary celebrations, birthdays, private dinner parties, business luncheons etc.

I ate in the conservatory section of the restaurant and the whole area was delightfully decorated with a lovely view over the gardens. The waiting staff were very attentive and pleasant, service was prompt and efficient and the food was lovely. A very pleasant dining experience.

Lovely dining room. Quick, efficient, friendly service. Both meals were delicious, well presented and good value.

My first time at the Arundel for lunch. Easy to book, lovely table in the Conservatory, wonderful, friendly service. I will return!

As ever very comfortable and attentive service. Food well cooked and reasonable sized portion with plenty of gravy available when requested. The restaurant still retains the same charming ambience it has always had. Service staff very attentive and polite. Slight issue about one guest with dairy intolerance dealt with well.

We dined in the Restaurant this time (not The Conservatory) and was greeted by a young waitress who we hadn't seen before. She was friendly and welcoming and offered a choice of tables to sit. The meal was up to the usual high standard. We have been coming here for over 20 years and generally speaking it has remained one of our favourite venues.

In Christmas season, conservatory was nearly empty but it is an elegant and restful place to dine. An extra glass of excellent wine, three great courses, attentive service: what more does one want? Good value for money.

The hotel had not received our booking from Open Table, but they quickly opened up an extra room and set a table to accommodate us (8 people). The staff were pleasant and the food was quite good, although the plaice was not available and the only veggie starter was soup. I enjoyed my lamb shank. They have an attractive conservatory but it was not open. It turned out well because it was nice to have a room to ourselves, especially as two have hearing impairment, and the birthday boy wanted to make a speech.

My wife and I are quite regular visitors to The Arundel. We wanted to introduce our friends this time. We had booked for the Restaurant, but the head waiter said we had no booking and asked us to eat in The Conservatory! That was fine, but was a bit annoyed. The Waiter took our order and the meals were very nice as usual. The Conservatory wasn't very bust, just two tables of two apart from our table of 5. The Head Waiter was abrupt and the under waiter was helpful but forgetful. We asked for tartar sauce for the fish and was bought mayonnaise. Our guest asked for a spoon twice for the meat pir gravy and they forgot and I had to get up to remind them. The puddings were served and we had to ask for spoons and forks. The second Beer we asked for never came and eventually we said '' Don't bother''! When the Bill was brought to us, we said the service was poor and didn't expect to pay the service charge. We complained about the forementioned and the Waiter said ''What DO YOU WANT ME TO DO'' We said ''just refund the service charge'', which he did and he reimbursed for the first beer and cider that we didn't ask for, but accepted! Then we asked for the Bill to be split which caused a problem not helped by the hand help payment machine not being able to get a signal.
