The Anglesey Arms is nestled in the picturesque hamlet of Halnaker, renowned as a red-brick village favourite with both returning locals and fleeting visitors needing some respite. Excellent Sunday lunch. Both the trout and the homemade chicken and ham pie were exceptional. But it took quite a long time for the food to arrive and the room was very noisy which I found quite annoying.

Staff are very friendly and helpful, starters were good, mains were disappointing for the price point. They need to up their food game to charge at that level.

Menu on website differed from menu in restaurant. Two main courses we were going to order was not on menu. Calamari starter was uncooked and the fish and chips order was a very small portion with very thin piece of fish in the batter .

Hi Anna, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. On Saturday 29th June we had an event and I am aware a reduced main menu was offered in the restaurant as well as a bbq and pizza menu. I apologise if you were unable to order what you had seen on the main menu. I do hope that you mentioned the issues you had with your food to a member of staff as we would have been more than happy to rectify this at the time. Very tasty, well cooked and presented food. Plenty of choice on the menu. Very pleasant setting.

Really enjoy our visit. Food was fab except for one dish, the crispy beef salad wasn’t as good as it could have been. Large pieces of steak (nicely cooked), but not crispy & not enough glaze with chillies & sesame seeds omitted.

The crispy chilli beef was rare!!!!! There was nothing crispy about it it was soft and rare which is not how crispy chilli beef should be. The frittata was tiny and it should have come with a side salad but it was actually a garnish if a few water cress leaves onion and a few slivers of raffish. No cucumber or tomatoes or peppers or any kind of nice dressing
