Comforting favorites in Avondale by Chefs Johnny Clark and Beverly Kim inspired by old-world cooking. First Course Zakusky (Mushroom Pashtet - Deviled Eggs - Holodets), Second Course Shuba (layered salad of potato, chopped herring, beets, carrots & onions), Third Course Ukha (savory fish soup with smoked laurel vodka, parsley root, leek & potato), Fourth Course Roasted Quail (Georgian spices, buckwheat, apple-fennel salad), Fifth Course Kyiv Cake (meringue-hazelnut, chocolate cake) (P.S. if you enjoy a late reservation, enjoy a toast to the New Year on us!)

    We had a nice experience! The food was delicious. We enjoyed the course spacing from the herring, chicken liver, eggplant, borscht, dumpling, and pork belly. All very tasty! We used to frequent Parachute so we were excited to try Anelya. The only downside was we were seated by a window and the cold air from outside was blowing on us and we were freezing!

    Our first time dining at a Ukranian restaurant although a guest will be familiar with some of the foods from other eastern European countries. The cocktails were creative but not overwhelming, however, the variety of "infusions" (vodka infused with herbs or fruit) was great and fun. Enjoyed the horseradish infusion to sip on during much of the meal, and a cherry infusion later. It's easy to share all of the courses. The appetizers are shown to guests on a cart. The roe tart was very tasty as was the egg with tarragon mayo and sardine. We also had a bread basket, fresh pickles and rolled eggplant. One could make a meal of an infusion and a variety of apps. A highlight was the duck, borsch soup with a side of garlic rolls. We subsequently enjoyed a creamy lasagna-like dish, side of kasha and potato pancakes. For dessert, we enjoyed a yummy multi-layer spice cake. Service was good although not flawless - and did not prevent us from having a great meal.

    Amazing experience, I will definitely be back. I also highly recommend the drinks both non alcoholic and alcoholic!

    I saw Aneyla featured on an email from Michelin which announced it as one of the 3 new restraunts in Chicago(2024), recognized with the prestigious title. The food was appealing to all senses and the staff was knowledgeable and helpful in explaining various options and providing recommendations or suggestions for an exceptional meal! The ambience, lighting and decor is similar to an true European experience. Aneyla's chefs, servers and staff definitely meet Michelin quality and are deserving of that status!

    Delicious food, delightfully personal service. The appetizers come out on a beautiful tiered server and you just pick what you want. Our server described everything beautifully and made suggestions for us. I would definitely eat here again.

    It was really really good, only don’t take the 9pm reservation on weekday as they close up soon after that. IThey didn’t rush us at all but I don’t like eating while they are closing up.

    Four of us celebrated my daughter's birthday and loved every minute. Unlike some restaurants, you cannot order "wrong" here. Everything we shared was fantastic, especially the pork belly! The service, including the bartender who makes a Blind Beauty that is a must try if you like horseradish, is top notch. The wine list, though not familiar, provides some excellent pairings at the recommendation of the staff. The vibe is comfortable. Bravo! We will be back!
