We loved the tasting dinner - only challenge was prepaying on open table was tough with the restaurant bc taxes were not included so they rang up wine and then had to redo the bill to include taxes. Was a bit of a pain when it came to figuring out the remaining bill. Should be worked out better with restaurant !

I have eaten at Andros multiple times since its opening and have come to regard it at the best, most refinded Greek Food in Chicago (I've traveled extensively in Greece as well and have an appreciation for the cuisine). Last night's experience was big a disappointment. Overall, the food was heavily salted, the worst offender the roasted Lamb platter which was also stringy and dry as if the meat had been prepared well in advance and left under a heat lamp or in the warming drawer. The lamb sausages were inedible. The service was lagged through out the meal. We wanted our food coursed out and the runner had trouble understanding our instructions to the server and they also brought a wrong dish. We had to ask for fresh plates between courses and to have the table cleaned. Not what I expect from Andros. In sum, the apps were tasty (zucchini chip and sardines) and the roasted potatoes probably the best item on our table although all items had way too much salt. Good, fresh ingredients can stand on their own without excessive salt. But the lamb was bad. And $18 for a galaktoboureko takes a lot of nerve. It was tasty but not a good value. Perhaps an off night, we'll be back (after we return from Greece later this fall) but it was a not what we expect.

The food and atmosphere is really first rate here. However, a word of caution: food is slow to come out initially. Once the food starts coming out, it's great, but on both occassions that I was there, they don't seem to have the concept of appetizer or cold appetizer as something that comes quickly to the table. I have a feeling it's because they make the pita fresh for every order, but they really should put a disclaimer on the menu. You can wait roughly 20-25 minutes for tzatziki and a hot appetizer will come out first. There is some glitch in the kitchen. Not enough to keep me away, because it 's a great place with a great atmosphere. Just don't go there starving.

Food was delicious, fresh, and interesting. Open windows gave a nice al fresco feel. Service was efficient and effective, but could have been friendlier. Prices are very high

Great place! Great menu, fantastic food and phenomenal service! It is a bit expensive but the experience is worth the price. Definitely will come back!

Andros takes old time Greek dining favorites and gives them an update. the presentation on the plate is well done and the food is very good. We particularly liked the lamb "spare" rib that came with the mixed grill--amazing! Octopus Skordalia, very good and cleverly presented with octopus bits in the center of a round berm of skordalia. The gyros--not your typical gyros, more like a roasted pork shoulder that has been slow-cooked and then shredded but with lamb--Yum!! The prawn saganaki was the weak link in the meal. While I appreciate the updates to standards, this has no connection to what you might expect from saganaki, so a little misleading since there is no description of what it is on the menu, and honestly it just wasn't that good. Needs some bread to sop up the tomato sauce at least. The restaurant is lovely--love the illusion the arched mirrors bring to the space. Service was excellent and the refreshing of plates and cutlery, and table-wipe down, most welcomed!

French toast was terrible. I am not a picky eater and I would not eat it. 4 out of 5 people ordered it and everyone had more than half left. Server asked if we wanted anything packed up and we said no. When asked how things were we said ok. That was it - no wanting any information or feedback. Will not be back.

Love eating at Andros but it can be a bit of a pain when the sun pours in through the north windows in the afternoon. Some sort of shading system is really necessary.
