Owner Felicia Wilson and Chef Partner Darryl Harmon, who hails from Gouldstown, NJ in Cumberland County, which is considered the oldest black community in the U.S., is an award-winning chef for The Lure Group in New York City. He previously served as the Executive Chef at the Water Works Restaurant in Philadelphia between 2007 and 2012.

The food was delicious and the price point matched the portion sizes. I would say the drinks were a bit overly priced based on the fact the presentation was simple and nothing to make the price point extra. The art was very beautiful inside. I will say that because of the material used on the chairs stains were visible. It seems there was a long wait time due to the lack of servers on the floor during our arrival. It seemed like there was one waiting managing the entire floor. Overall, I enjoyed my experience specifically for the braised rib.

The food is absolutely delicious. We had the deviled eggs as appetizer and honestly i could have ate all of them by myself and still want more lol. I had the salmon and my husband got the fried chicken. Both were REALLY good. For sides we got the macaroni and cheese and the collard greens as its family style for the sides. The macaroni and cheese was delicous! The greens were good too but just not on the mac and cheese level lol i al may be biased. Service was good, it was very try busy so we weren’t checked on a whole bunch but i honestly do not mind that. Despite it being busy the food and drinks came out quick. I probably would have ordered more drinks though if the waitress had a chance to come around more. But i think they were doing the best with the amount of people at each table. 100% im going back.

Amina was amazing! The food was well done and the portion sizes were generous. The dishes were very flavorful and not something that you can get at other restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a new place to eat. Definitely order the chopped salad, cornbread, fried chicken, standalone short rib, and banana pudding crème brûlée,

I throughly enjoyed my experience at Amina’s from the service, food, atmosphere. The cleanliness of restroom also added to the experience. I will definitely go back.

This was the perfect birthday dinner! Rachel was a fantastic server. The bartender (I don’t recall their name) made a delicious Warrior Princess cocktail. And of course, the food was perfection!

I visited this restaurant when it first opened a few years ago and had an unfavorable experience. With respect to its infancy at the time, I gave the restaurant some grace understanding the challenges of starting a new business—especially a restaurant in a major city. So when the opportunity to revisit this restaurant presented itself, I willingly accepted. To my surprise, the experience this time around was outstanding: Food: Service: Ambience. It really changed my sentiments on Amina’s and I will definitely recommend this restaurant to people looking to enjoy some southern/Caribbean cuisine in the city. Great work by the owners, staff, and managers for working to improve the dining experience and I’m wishing you all the best.

A definite find for us coming from the burbs. Vibe was chill. Food was great. Gumbo was off the charts. Short rib with cheesy grits was rich. Cocktails were good. Looking forward to another visit!
