Had a fabulous time at Amelia’s 1931. Great service, loved the ambiance, food was great. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the live music. Would definitely go back!

Super unexpected and definitely worth a visit. We were impressed with the whole vibe of the place, total speakeasy feel. Transported is appropriate to say, we all really enjoyed the whole experience. The food was very good and the drinks had a nice kick. We couldn't help admiring the place. The crowd energy and music were really nice for a date night.

The mussels in Thai green sauce appetizer was terrific. The Speakeasy vibe was charming. Hamburger dinner plate would have benefited from something green. Other patrons had spotted the NYT notice about good hamburger locations.

As an OpenTable customer, this review is intended as 'constructive criticism' with the hope that Amelia's 1931 takes the comments with a positive approach for the improvement and betterness of the establishment. The 'ambient' was very pleasant, lots of details from times gone by. Very dark and romantic, but it would benefit from having more light when reading the menu. The 'decoration' very nice and appropriate for the 1930s era, where glamorous details allowed the imagination to float away. The 'music' was very beautiful; however, too loud, preventing a nice conversation with friends. The main server 'Priscilla' was delightful, very pleasant, friendly and highly attentive to our large group. The 'entrance' none of us were impressed with the washing machine, the handing clothes line or the narrow entrance; however, we received a smiley welcome. The 'Menu' is very limited for a restaurant of this caliber. The description of the available dishes could be more explicit, especially, the degree of spicy-hot it contains. Some of us ordered the 'Gochujang Paella' $38, similar to a 'Seafood Paella' lacking the luscious succulent seafood expected of its price and it was so spicy-hot that we were not able to eat but a spoon-ful. Discussed with Priscilla, who very graciously explained that it was made with Korean sauce that is very spicy - this should have been emphasized on menu. I have had lots of Korean food and have never encountered such degree of fiery seasoning. Honestly, should have returned it. The 'prices' considered high; $36 for 'Lomo Salteado' in Risotto, pass the border line. $14 for a 'French Onion Soup' or $16 for a Caesar's Salad; too pricey! The 'food presentation' very stunningly creative! Now to the savory desserts: Priscilla was very vivacious as she explained the different savory goodies: Tiramisu, Mango Keylime Pie and Cuban Timba. Most ordered the Timba based on the description, which sounded scrumptious, artistically presented, hardly any guava.
