Our dining experience is inspired by the progressive thinker and pioneering scientist Lady Amber Fitzwilliam, who ran her famous Thursday Club from the hotel in the early 20th century.

At Amber’s we draw on the same meticulous attention to detail and free thinking that our namesake employed in her work to bring you contemporary Yorkshire dining with a difference in a superbly elegant setting.

In keeping with the spirit of Lady Amber Fitzwilliam, whose famous Thursday Club ran for many years at the hotel, we offer relaxed entertainment in the luxurious setting of Amber’s restaurant every Thursday night. Sample delicious food and an elegant drinks menu to a backdrop of live acoustic music from a handful of carefully chosen local artists. £30 per head for 2 courses or upgrade to 3 course for an additional £7.50 per head. Friends of Amber's are welcome to use their 20% discount. Live music between 6.30pm and 7.15pm & 7.45pm and 8.30pm

Outstanding food in an absolutely beautiful restaurant .. Sunday dinner was the best I've ever had.. I cant wait to go again

We arrived at the appointed time to celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary. Shown to a table and complimentary glasses of prosecco arrived. Placed an order for a bottle of wine and our food order. the bottle of wine arrived but 45 minutes later we were still waiting for some information on what had happened ro our food order. Eventually we were informed by Blaze that here had been a mix up /delay and our food was being prepared. Having arrived at 12:45 we were served our meal at just before 2pm. The food was good but the delay had taken some of the enjoyment out of the occasion. There was some adjustment made to our bill which was welcome. Would we go to Ambers again? MAYBE

I’ve already been quite a few times and enjoy coming . I’m afraid there’s usually a niggle with the experience . This time it was one food item ( soufflé ) was poor. The waiter kindly deducted off the bill but that’s only part of the point .

Lovely Sunday lunch at Ambers. Excellent service and great food. Lovely setting for lunch with family and friends or like me on your own. Very relaxing atmosphere.

This was our second visit. Service very good, wine reasonably priced but food not as good as last visit. We will give it another try.

Top quality food and service. The soya steak was incredible. All of the meat eaters in our group tried it and couldn’t believe it wasn’t meat. The valrhona chocolate brownie was so delicious that we had it two nights running. Very smart bar area. As dog owners we are used to dining in less sophisticated surroundings so it was nice to dine somewhere smart. We really loved Ambers.

First visit. Excellent food. I had scallops to start followed by salmon. It's was beautifully presented a d delicious. We had the wine pairing with our meal which was also good and excellent value. Highly recommend.

The salad was missing an ingredient, which I feel could have been sourced and should notify staff in advance if there is something unavailable on the menu. The salad that then came with the missing ingredient looked a little sorry for itself and the goats cheese could have had a little more of a side salad. All other food ordered was to a great standard.

Incredible surroundings, classical design of room, very civilised with quiet attentive service. Had all the little extras that good quality restaurants have, I particularly like places that still use linen napkins as opposed to paper, however good the paper is! I found the food to be cooked to perfection, and the presentation was excellent. Well worth a visit, we will be going again.

The service was really good. It was a relatively quiet Wednesday evening. I had a plant based steak/ medallion which was an incredible veggie option.
