"Amberley Castle has a long held reputation for delivering outstanding cuisine.

Enjoyed on the first floor of the castle in either the magnificent Queen's Room, with its barrel-vaulted ceiling dating back to the 12th century and open fire or The Great Room, built-in 1165 by Bishop Luffa of Chichester, a fine example of Norman architecture with its high lancet windows, open fireplace, oak flooring, tapestry and suits of armour.

The dress code for the dining room is smart casual.

Please note that we welcome children of all ages to dine in the restaurant as long as their parents are well-behaved!

Lovely evening, with very good service. Especially from the very attentive gentleman from Serbia, and the gentleman from Argentina! So sorry to have forgotten their names. A very special place, with so much history.

A beautiful place but not for a festive afternoon tea . We chose Amberley castle as we assumed that a 5 star hotel we would get a special afternoon tea Our table was not ready for us and room was empty with hardly any Christmas decorations Table was not festive and the room had no atmosphere We waited over an hour for a savoury selection which was nothing very special . And then waited another hour for our cakes and scones which again were nothing special Tea was nice and hot and selection good Service was okay We were a group of 5 ladies all family and go every year for afternoon tea at Christmas We chose Amberley thinking it would be a very special place to make memories sadly we will not return ..

Really good food and service- slight let down was that they do not stock any alcohol free Beer or Lager, no did they stock any half bottles of wine ( despite being on the wine list ) Restaurant a little cold and austere as not very full.

Absolutely stunning venue and gorgeous afternoon tea. The team at Amberley Castle were exceptional- welcoming and attentive, and the service couldn't have been better. We'll definitely be back in 2025. Thank you!

Excellent 5 course taster menu and dining experience. Have been to Amberley Castle a few times before and it never fails to deliver. The food this time around was exquisite and I would point out the sole with crabmeat and leek stuffing as truely memorable - a festival of taste and delicate texture - quite the best I have had. Hats off the chef. Thoroughly recommended and we will be back.

Amberley Castle is a great place to visit, especially for special occasions. However, this time we went for the festive Christmas afternoon tea, and the food was quite disappointing as not very festive. The sandwiches were exactly the same as we had a couple of months ago. No nice mini minced pies or Christmas cake etc came away feeling quite underwhelmed and disappointed.

Wonderfully atmospheric dining room, full of a sense of history. Food was very good, we had the five course tasting menu, braised pigs cheek starter was soft and juicy, everyone loved the flavour and tenderness of the venison. Very good service.

I booked for a special afternoon tea for my partners birthday and that’s exactly what we got. Fantastic staff, the service was the best I’ve ever had, the afternoon tea was absolutely delicious and the price is good for what we experienced. Overall they made my partners birthday special. They even gave him a birthday card. Would highly recommend for that special occasion or for a perfect gift.
