L'Ambar, c'est là où l'Europe du Sud-Est rencontre le sud-est du district de Columbia. Son objectif est de combiner pour votre plus grand plaisir les meilleurs produits du Nouveau et de l'Ancien Monde. La région des Balkans, parce qu'elle a toujours été proche des grands empires, a beaucoup enrichi sa culture alimentaire de leur histoire, leur géographie et leur climat. L'origine du terme Balkans est reconnue provenir du mot byzantin qui signifie : « une chaîne de montagnes boisées ». Avec le désir d'introduire à Washington, DC, la fine pointe de la cuisine des Balkans, le restaurant a créé une salle à manger qui ravira les sens.     We were seated in a booth on the 2nd floor near the bar. We had made a reservation and there were 3 other empty booths. Directly behind us was a woman seated at the bar talking to 2 other bar patrons 3 seats away in a shrill, loud voice. After a few minutes we asked the waitress staff if we could please move to another booth away from the LOUD voice. We were told that we could not switch booths, but the only option was to stay in our assigned booth or sit upstairs in a quieter dining room. Annoyed, we went upstairs to find a completely empty room, none of the pleasant ambiance of the 2nd floor comfortable area with now 4 empty booths. We can only assume that judgement was made about us because of our white hair. The evening manager saw us leaving and allowed us to sit in another booth. The dinner was delicious, our waitress lovely, but the entire experience was insulting and ageist.

    Wonderful! The food was delicious and unique. My friends and I refer to it as Balkan gluttony. Such a fun place to celebrate with friends.

    Ambar is always outstanding. One of my favorite dining experiences in the city period. We are very lucky to live so close to it!

    We had a show to get to and the service was prompt and attentive to our schedule needs and offered great menu suggestions as well.
