I recently visited Ambar Shaw for brunch, and it was a mixed experience. On the positive side, the reservation process was smooth, and we were seated promptly upon arrival, which was a great start to the meal. The interior design of the restaurant is impressive, with a modern and inviting atmosphere that makes for a pleasant dining environment. However, the service left much to be desired. We experienced a noticeable wait for our food, and getting the check at the end of the meal took longer than expected. As for the food itself, it was just okay; except the waffles were Incredible, and I've had better experiences with their dinner menu in the past. Overall, Ambar Shaw offers a fantastic ambiance and reliable seating, but they could improve their brunch service and menu. If you're considering dining here, you might want to opt for dinner instead.

I want to start off by saying that I have been to two other Ambar locations and love the food. I have a few food allergies and Ambar does a great job accommodating my allergies. This was my first visit to the Capital Shaw location. My friend and I (who are both African American women) were treated harshly by an African American lady with long braids. After she confirmed our reservations another lady walked us upstairs to the bar. No one greeted us when we sat down. Two separate groups sat down after us and an African American woman greeted them and gave them water before us. We waited a long time before she came to greet us. My guest felt like the server was rude and that we were bothering server by being there. We were not regularly checked on to order more food. At one point no server was in the bar area or on floor to order food from for several minutes. At our two hour mark we were told that our time has come to an end. However the group to the right of us that were seated and drinking before us were told to move down to accommodate the guests that were arriving to be seated. At the Capital Hill location, there is mostly Balkan liquor displayed. It was my understanding that the Balkan liquor was used for the brunch drinks. We saw them make the Bloody Mary and Balkan liquor was not used. We loved the food there but did not appreciate how we were treated. I hope a manager looks into this behavior.

Such a fun and relaxed place. Crowded but good vibes. The service is always on point. I love it!

Great atmosphere. Great food. Excellent service. Noise level ranged from quiet to moderate depending on how busy it is. Will definitely return again.

The food was amazing, but the service was very poor. I believe it was because we were seated at the bar high-tops, and the bartenders were preoccupied with other tasks. After we were seated, the bartenders seemed to disappear, making it difficult to order food and drinks. This really affected my overall experience. I plan to return and try sitting at a regular table to see if the experience is different.

The food was great, but the server wasn’t very conscientious about pointing out which food had certain allergens and a mistake was made. Fortunately no one ended up in the hospital.
