Amalia Fumelli is the inspiration behind Amalia’s Authentic Italian Restaurant. She was born in Italy in 1932, and grew up on a farm. As she grew up, she took an interest in cooking and learned everything about the Italian kitchen from her mother and grandmother. For countless hours each day, Amalia began making hand-made pasta with her rolling pin on an old, wooden table. After many years, she had mastered her pasta creations through her skilled handiwork, precise cutting skills, and the amount of love she put into her work.

Over time, Amalia has passed all of her secrets and knowledge about food along to her children and grandchildren. One grandchild in particular, Filippo Fanfani, gained a passion for the art of cooking through her guidance. As a child, he spent all his days at his grandmother’s house preparing meals for his family. The two have a strong bond, that began with their conjoining love of creating meals that are enjoyable for everyone.

The service and the atmosphere make this place special - unfortunately, the food for the price just isn’t comparable to some of the authentic Italian spots in the city.

I thought the restaurant was so pretty. I did not like the food and it was fairly costly. Five scallops over linguini for over $40.00 seems crazy. The house wine was very nice. The gnocchi with pesto was way too salty. I had been here about a year ago and our meal was much better. As I mentioned, they have a very nice wine list. Not sure I’d rush back if I had to pick up the check though.

Everything we had was prepared to perfection and tasted amazing! Our waiter, Shannon, was extremely knowledgeable and his recommendations were spot on. I highly recommend!

Quite possibly the best restaurant experience ever. It wasn't just like eating out, it was like being a guest in someone's home. Except for the bill at the end! :) You get the origin of the ingredients and beautiful descriptions of the menu items. The food, service and charming atmosphere make this a place not to be missed.

The food at Amalia’s is reliably excellent, the ambiance charming, and the service quite good without being fussy or intrusive.

So this place is our go to in Wake Forest. The service and food are amazing. They care here, and you can feel it. Prices are VERY reasonable, especially for what you get. This is not an Olive Garden, and I’m glad. Great place. Been coming for dinner for a few years now.
