Alter House Restaurant and Bar is a family owned Farm-to-Table Restaurant and Event Venue dedicated to seasonal, sustainable cuisine. It is our culinary mission to source the finest ingredients from regional farmers, artisan purveyors and local farms whenever possible. Here at Alter House Restaurant and Bar, sustainability is the forefront of our identity. The seasons will define our menu. Our goal at Alter House is to be the restaurant of choice in Northeast Pennsylvania. Our aim is to provide our guests with unique culinary offerings paired with incredible service, in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. We hold ourselves to the highest possible standard of excellence for food and service, dedicating ourselves to these core values and principles. Depending on the size of the event, the restaurant space can be divided to accommodate large party dinners. Private dining menus are customized by our talented Culinary Team from seasonally-inspired offerings. Our Outdoor Tented Patio and the Private Dining Room located adjacent to the Alter House Restaurant is ideal for daytime business meetings, bereavements, corporate dinners, social celebrations and cocktail receptions. Excellent brunch, cocktails were terrific and the food stellar as always. Service is always on point. Best in our area, IMO.

The absolute best place in the area. Service is always over the top. Food and drinks are top notch. Staff bends over backwards to give you the best experiance.

Great food, great service and great atmosphere . This was a last minute reservation and a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend the Alter House for anyone visiting the greater Scranton, PA area.

Fantastic food, appropriate service, and great atmosphere. Taken right to our table and waited on promptly. One of the best places for date night in the area!

What a wonderful experience celebrating my daughters 22 birthday! From the moment we walked in was greeted by such a lovely lady and it continued. Each person was very gracious and accomdated my familys dietery needs. They surprised her with a birthday card and a amazing desert with firework like candle .so happy she was ! Defenitly a 5 star to all of us . We willbe back !

The hostesses were fantastic lovely they sat us at our favorite table at a high top in the bar. It was our anniversary. There was a card waiting at our table. It was such a special touch. Justin came over to wish us happy anniversary so did the other staff… our Wait staff, Andrew, was polite and knowledgeable and very attentive, my watermelon mint martini was excellent. As Was the Belvedere stirred not shaken martini . Our glass of red wine was fantastic. The music that was played was delightful. He was very lovely. My husband and I both had the high-cap prime fillet. The price was perfect and it was absolutely delicious with the demiglaze. It was done to perfection it was a totally perfect experience. I recommend this place highly we go there all the time and it never disappoints a very eclectic menu i…so much to choose from. Thank you Andrew for being so lovely and the rest of the staff that helped us enjoy our anniversary Also accolades to those bartenders, they make a perfect drink every time please let them know we enjoy their craft. They’re so talented.

This was our second time at this establishment. The food was good. We also enjoyed the service of our waitress, Alyssa. She was courteous and knowledgeable about the menu, and her recommendations were spot on. Their burgers are truly gourmet! We will go there again!
