Alter House Restaurant and Bar is a family owned Farm-to-Table Restaurant and Event Venue dedicated to seasonal, sustainable cuisine. It is our culinary mission to source the finest ingredients from regional farmers, artisan purveyors and local farms whenever possible. Here at Alter House Restaurant and Bar, sustainability is the forefront of our identity. The seasons will define our menu. Our goal at Alter House is to be the restaurant of choice in Northeast Pennsylvania. Our aim is to provide our guests with unique culinary offerings paired with incredible service, in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Our main space is a perfect setting for private dining events that range from 12 to 70 people. Depending on the size of the event, the restaurant space can be divided to accommodate large party dinners. Private dining menus are customized by our talented Culinary Team from seasonally-inspired offerings. Our Outdoor Tented Patio and the Private Dining Room located adjacent to the Alter House Restaurant is ideal for daytime business meetings, bereavements, corporate dinners, social celebrations and cocktail receptions. High quality slightly old fashioned quality fare. Rare fillet steak you could eat with a desert spoon matched to cracking red. My daughter’s pasta was equally wholesome. Pleasant staff.

An absolutely phenomenal experience. Valentina was our waitress and she had great suggestions as well as a wonderful attention to needs. She gave us the time to make decisions while also dropping in favorites to help guide our choices. The scallops with a blueberry compote was a masterpiece in flavor and execution. I will be dreaming of them. Cocktails were well made. All of the food and drinks were prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients true to Alter House’s mission. If this sounds like a paid review it is just because of what a delightful experience we had.

One of a kind restaurant Especially good for special occasions The food was very good but different than your average restaurants in this area My friend raved over the beet salad & scallops The chicken dish I had was all right , l didn’t think the items in the dish complimented each other. All in all it was an enjoyable dinning experience

Overpriced food the best thing was the crab fries the quality of food for the price is just not there I was very disappointed

Alter House was even better than I thought it would be. Great menu selection. I personally decided from the brunch menu, which was delicious. Good portion size. Others ordered off the regular menu. All great.
