Alter House Restaurant and Bar is a family owned Farm-to-Table Restaurant and Event Venue dedicated to seasonal, sustainable cuisine. It is our culinary mission to source the finest ingredients from regional farmers, artisan purveyors and local farms whenever possible. Here at Alter House Restaurant and Bar, sustainability is the forefront of our identity. The seasons will define our menu. Our goal at Alter House is to be the restaurant of choice in Northeast Pennsylvania. Our aim is to provide our guests with unique culinary offerings paired with incredible service, in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. We hold ourselves to the highest possible standard of excellence for food and service, dedicating ourselves to these core values and principles. Depending on the size of the event, the restaurant space can be divided to accommodate large party dinners. Private dining menus are customized by our talented Culinary Team from seasonally-inspired offerings. Alter House never disappoints! I have a hard time finding restaurants that I like in this area. I moved here from Austin and previously lived in the NY area and I just struggle when I go out to eat because many of the restaurants here seem so uninspiring. Not so at the Alter House - the food is always outstanding, and there are choices for every palate. We get the charcuterie board almost every time, and the pork chops are so out of this world that it’s an effort for many of us to choose something different because we love that so much. But honestly all the food is great, you can’t go wrong. Oh - and if you like Old Fashioneds, get one here. Actually, even if you don’t like them, you should try one here - they are the only place in the area that can make them correctly so maybe they are your favorite drink and you just never knew! They also have a robust mocktail selection that is printed right on the regular menu - you don’t have to make a special request or anything. All and all (in case you can’t tell) this is my favorite restaurant in PA - we travel from the Pittston area for special occasions and really wish we were closer because we would be here all the time.

We made an unexpected stop at Alter House for dinner while driving from Canada to New Jersey. I am glad that we did. The food and service were very good. The menu had some nice farm to table entrees. My wife had the Peach BBQ chicken while I had the pasta special. It was nice to enjoy a meal while traveling and was much better than any restaurant right off of the interstate.

We celebrate our anniversary at Alter House. From the moment we sat at the bar to the moment we left I was in awe. They have amazing specialty drinks & an attentive staff. We had an anniversary card waiting for us at the table that was good for a glass of champagne or dessert to share on the house. Our waitress was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was prepared perfectly as ordered and was delicious. We also appreciated the recommended wine pairing with our entrees. The restaurant was well decorated and the tables were not on top of each other. Although we did not receive the correct complimentary dessert it was presented with a sparkler. The most impressive part I have to mention was the manager/sommelier. This gentleman was genuine and kind and attentive and sincerely seemed to want us to enjoy the whole dining experience

Drinks and Service were 10 out of 10. My wife had the peach martini and it was like biting into a fresh peach. I had a bourbon drink that was super smooth. My basil pasta was a 10 out of 10 but the openings in the fork made it dysfunctional as the pasta was larger than the fork. My wife ordered a fillet medium and it came out rare and bloody which is a turnoff for her. It came out a second time and it was medium rare but the ate most of it.

The food was amazing. Our server don was fantastic. The grill master jay cooked our food perfect. It was our anniversary and they went above and beyond to make it special. I will be back
