NOW OPEN! Altamirano Restaurant & Bar is a new Peruvian restaurant, conveniently located in the NOPA neighborhood of San Francisco. Open the door to a spacious bar that flows seamlessly into the luxe dining room, with the exhibition kitchen in full view. Meander outside to the dynamic outdoor dining courtyard, featuring a fire pit, ample seating, a bar, and a TV to watch your favorite sports teams. Led by a team of culinary and hospitality professionals, service is comfortable yet elevated.
Overseen by Chef Carlos Altamirano and led by Chef Eric Chumacero, the menu is a modern take on the flavors of Peru. Bold tastes and unique preparations will delight your senses and pop on your palette. Drinks highlight traditional Peruvian ingredients but with a contemporary twist.

    Service dwindled as the restaurant got busier. Had to ask for serving spoons with most dishes. Asked for water to be replenished. Tomahawk $180 was tender but lacked seasoning. Ceviches were great. Crab was tasty. Kids menu-Mac and cheese was too spicy; okay for adults but not for kids. Fried whole fish with fried rice was great. Total 12 dishes. Half were memorable.

    We started with an Altamirano Pisco Sour, just like the drink we enjoyed in Peru. There was a dish of purple potato chips which came with the drinks. We had two delicious items from the “Cebiche” menu, the halibut and the salmon. Both came with sauces. Next came seared scallops in another beautiful sauce. We shared two entrees, a pork dish and half a small chicken. For dessert we shared a churro ice cream sandwich, which was very tasty and really big enough to split. A very special experience in every way!

    The food was delicious and our waiter was incredibly helpful and answered all of our questions. The restaurant is gorgeous and I can't wait to come back.

    Amazing service and amazing food . Stall was super friendly and knowledgeable. Flavor was perfect. Recommend the ahi ceviche and lamb

    Came in last night to celebrate 2 of my friends' birthdays. We had a 7:30pm reservation but were running late after work so they were able to seat us at 8:30pm. The outdoor seating area was very nice. For drinks we ordered a glass of Malbec, Guava French 75, and a Mezcal cocktail. Nothing too special with the cocktails, wine was good. Had a few rounds of Fortaleza and Don Julio as well. Food we tried: Halibut Ceviche: Very good, fresh fish and cut in thick pieces. Scallops: 2 small pieces of scallops on a big plate served warm. Was good but small, could have used some more acidity. Shrimp Toast: Favorite of the night, we ordered it twice Lobster Bao: The bao itself was good, loved the texture. The meat however felt a little lost as it was shredded lobster. Would have enjoyed this more with big chunks for more texture. Steak: They torch the truffle butter table side. Would have loved a better sear and crust on the steak but other wise it was cooked at a perfect medium rare. A bit more salt and pepper would have been nice too. Dessert: We ordered a Lucuma Tiramisu which was nice, the lucuma flavor was definitely prominent. Then they gifted us a Strawberry Tres Leches for the birthday girls -- good cake but nothing too special. Nonetheless thankful for the gesture, Service: We had Eduardo as our server. He did his best. He accommodated us well even after the kitchen's last call. Total bill came out to around $470 plus tip. Would come again to try other dishes. Congrats on the opening!

    The food wasn't as excellent as it normally is. I had been twice before and the dishes were uniformly excellent. But tonight was a much different experience. The crab appetizer lacked flavor and was under seasoned. The lobster black bao had a faint taste of lobster, again under seasoned. The arancini were lukewarm, as if they had been sitting for a while. But the sophi sashimi was still delicious. As for service, we weren't offered the complimentary chips and dip. I would still go back, but perhaps not on a Sunday evening.

    The space is beautiful and the service is friendly and attentive. We went for brunch and had Ceviche, the tuna toast and the burger. The fish was some of the freshest we've tried and the burger was cooked to perfection, which sometimes can be hard to get. We will definitely be back for dinner. The menu looks amazing. So happy to have a new spot in the neighborhood.

    Great service, all the dishes were amazing and the cocktails were tasty. The vibe was really energetic. Can't wait to try the brunch!

    Went with a friend and we did ceviche and small plates. The halibut ceviche was the best dish of the meal. From the small plates we did the corn ribs, scallops, lobster bao, and dungeness crab. All the dishes were great. The only “meh” was the lobster bao. The bao bun has a mochi quality to it that didn’t work for either one of us. The lobster salad in the bao was good. Service was good. Good selection of wines by the glass and full bar.
