We had a lovely dinner at Alobar Yorkville. The food was absolutely fantastic — zucchini appetizer, amazing prawns and sole along with some side vegetables. The service was outstanding, just nice, helpful, attentive, friendly people. We would be there all the time if we lived in Toronto.

Two separate items to discuss: 1. The food was “good” no major issues. Both my wife and I ordered pasta for our main and it was just alright. For 50 dollars a plate compared to other higher end spots in the city we would have expected a lot more. I had one drink when I was seated and then was never offered another drink for over 1 hour. No one checked on our food after it was dropped and the pasta was room temp and sauce had started to congeal and split. Would not recommend would not return. Fancy place, high prices and bad service. Similar style places with menus built for sharing are our favourite spots( Mon Lapin in MTL, Bar Kismet in Halifax), AloBar is more expensive per plate and drink and has half the service and quality of food. 2. Completely unrelated the to the review on food and service. There was a situation towards the end of our meal where a man was in and out of consciousness 3 or more times. The restaurant had no one trained to have a clue what to do. The man’s wife was screaming for help and this happened multiple times. There was no ambulance there 45 minutes later when we left. At the very least during an emergency your first course of action is to call 911, this is basic safety training and is the same in everything from first aid you take at a grocery store to advanced ERT training. A nice young man sat and talked with the couple and I was under the impression he was a doctor so I sat down and let him do his thing and it made a little more sense to me as to why there was no ambulance. Turns out he was not a doctor and I am sick to my stomach that there is no response in place for a situation like this. The music was not shut off, the front of the restaurant was not cleared out he was not laid down or made comfortable it was the worst experience of my life while dining. We felt so bad for the couple we had to leave and then the staff was apologizing to us for the disruption like that was the issue. DO BETTER FOR YOUR PATRONS.

Excellent service as always. Main courses were near perfect - the Dover Sole was exceptional. Cocktails were great. Buzzy atmosphere, great fun. Nice to see Chef K in attendance too!

I was looking forward to this reservation but for me, the rap music played so loud we had to yell (at 530)…we were definitely not allowed to enjoy a drink prior to ordering the staff were all over us to order..not a moment to relax first..(we had until 730 apparently so not sure why)…the wedge salad outstanding but other 2 dishes fell below expected quality very disappointing. Was hoping for a better wine list by the glass..the house expresso martini…very good and creative with armangac..we left and went around the corner to finish our meal.

Attentive service in a bustling space- a little noisy for my old ears. Food was excellent and portions ample Iberico pork chop was perfect I felt spoiled with the amount of foie gros in the parfait The milk bread was unforgettable And by far, without a doubt the best banana cream pie EVER. Worth the trip

Steak was very chewy / rubbery. Scallops were good. Oysters were fine.

Great service. Delicious food. Just pricey which is a given in Yorkville. A fab restaurant regardless.
