At Alo, we are getting back to the roots of hospitality. We want each and every guest to feel welcome in our home and to enjoy the classically prepared, meticulously thought out French food and service presented in a five-course tasting menu in our dining room.

To compliment our menu and enhance your experience we will provide wines that engage your mind and dazzle your palate. We seek the best and most interesting winemakers – people who take their craft as seriously as we take our food and service.

The Bar at Alo will provide sharable small plates that allow guests to simply snack or create a delicious dinner inspired by the menu in the main dining room. Our cocktail program presents a selection of cocktails that are classic, refined and very French.

Join us in our dining room for a new tasting menu that features the best ingredients we can source. Our menu is internationally inspired and prepared using classic French technique. Please note that we are unable to accommodate vegan/vegetarian tasting menus, dairy/egg allergies, seafood allergies or aversion to raw meat/seafood. If there are any dietary concerns within your party, please reach out to info@alorestaurant.com at your earliest convenience before booking a reservation. The tasting menu is offered at $225 per guest and does not include beverages, service charge and tax. Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will be charged the full price of the tasting menu per guest.

Our Kitchen Counter features bar-style seating and faces our open kitchen for an engaging dining experience. The Kitchen Counter offers a blind multi-course tasting menu, including luxurious menu items and special courses from our Chefs. Please note that we are unable to accommodate vegan/vegetarian tasting menus, dairy allergies, seafood/shellfish allergies, or aversions to raw meat/seafood. Alo's private dining room, equipped with its own bar and kitchen, offers a six-course tasting-menu for up to 14 guests. This unique dining experience begins with a cocktail reception featuring a glass of sparkling wine and a trio of canapés. The pricing for this experience is $295 per guest exclusive of beverages, HST & 20% service charge. Wine pairings are available for an additional $125 per guest. Our private dining room is also available to be booked for lunches. The food and service was great; the water glasses were constantly being refilled which is great as I drink lots of water. Plates were cleared quickly and the explanations on the food was very helpful. We had the wine pairing and the sommelier was very knowledgeable about all the wines with respect to the regions and varieties and history but interestingly did not describe the flavours and notes in the wines so we experienced them without any preconceptions. One of our party ordered a plain coke with ice which I'm sure they thought odd and they did not charge for it which surprised us but it was very appreciated. I liked the fact that we received a list of all the wines and the food courses which will greatly aid in our remembrances of the meal. The portions are not large but the presentation was outstanding and we were fully satiated. An awesome dinner.

Alo was an interesting experience. A solid 4 out of 5 and well worth your visit. Service was very welcoming and attentive. Enjoyed the incorporation of Canadian elements throughout. During our visit, our star dishes were the Foie Gras and A5 Wagyu. Well composed and memorable. For the wine pairings, Cota 45 and Brachetto d'acqui were lively companions. Also, the appearance of a Soave was embraced. Seems most have removed Soaves years ago, but a favorite of mine. Be aware Alo has a bit of a hidden entrance on Spadina. Perhaps intentional to add to the mystique of your culinary experience. Dining room could use a bit of a freshen up, most notably the upholstered that has seen many visits. Perhaps book at night would be best. FOH crew all wore sneakers (understandable) but all different brands and colors. Not sure if this was charming or distracting. All in all, we had a wonderful evening and thank the whole Alo for their hard work in providing such an experience.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The ambiance was elegant, setting the stage for what we hoped would be a perfect evening. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavors that danced on our palates. The chef’s attention to detail and creativity was evident in every bite. We particularly enjoyed the [specific dish], which was a highlight of the evening. However, our experience was slightly marred by the presence of food flies near our table and it was a bit distracting and took away from the otherwise flawless dining experience.

Overall food was good. Our servers were great although some were very soft spoken (which was a challenge understanding each course and forced us to inquire or ask them to speak louder). Some of the wine pairing I felt did not match the dishes although tasty in flavor. There was quite a bit of Asian influence in the dishes which was unexpected but certainly welcomed. The host at the bottom of the elevator was not the warm welcome we were expecting from a Michelin Star restaurant, it felt very cold and dismissive. However, once you reach the top, the hostesses there were very attentive and pleasant. I would recommend trying the restaurant once but I don’t think we would return as there are many other options to try in Toronto.
