Alma is a restaurant based on the tastes and experiences of our kitchen team focusing on modern Chinese cuisine headed by Chef/Owner Anna Chen.
We are built around food that uses fresh, simple, quality ingredients and our focus is to create a unique dining experience.
Our beverage program is focused on Natural Wines curated by Sommeliers Kate Densmore and Ben Dalton.
As of September 2022, Alma has been recognized by the Michelin Guide as a recipient of the Bib Gourmand award.

    Best dining experience I’ve had in a while! We chose the “Trust Alma” and it was perfect! 10/10!!!

    If I could, I would give it a 3.5. It is a nice restaurant but didn’t meet expectations and felt a bit overpriced. The restaurant is overpriced. The tables are, however, very close and a couple of times the server squeezed in between them to talk to the diners beside us. This meant that I a view of the servers backside for extended periods. The first dishes were very good, especially the chicken wings. The issue is that food is expensive for what it is and the main dish of noodles and dumplings was surprisingly bland. The special was eggplant which tasted delicious but was not cooked enough. It was tough instead of soft and creamy. If it was wither a little less costly or the food was a little better then it would be amazing.

    The experience itself was good. We went on a weekday so it was not busy at all. As said by most people, the portion sizes lean on the smaller end. Turnip cake and the wonton noodle were the best dishes and most resembling traditional Cantonese fare. I would go once for the novelty of elevated Chinese cuisine.

    Over hyped. It was very loud when it was full. The cod was tiny for $44. Flavours were unique but small portions and high prices didn’t make up for it. Server suggested we get 5 dishes. Now we understand that portion were too small to be satisfied. We did have room for dessert. Server was rude. Not a cozy or comfortable place. Flavours were unique but it didn’t live up to the hype and prices didn’t justified the mediocre experience.

    Sooo delicious. Chinese fusion fine dining, leaning towards italian, at an approachable price. Our server, Ben, was great, and his wine recommendation was delicious. The lager was also wonderful. I also loved to see chefs from the kitchen hand delivering some of the dishes. Everything we tried was amazing. The tomato salad was maybe the best I’ve ever had - I could’ve drank the leftover tomato juice. The pork wonton noodles were insanely good - I could eat them every day. I’ve been dreaming about the parmesan fritter ever since. The bao and stracciatella was SO good. The cantaloupe sorbet with the olive oil and salt was so unexpectedly phenomenal. The overall atmosphere is great. Clean, small without feeling stifling. Will come back next time we’re in Toronto!

    Our party of 5 had a lovely experience dining here. We were comfortably seated at a quaintly lit establishment (a bit dim for my older parents, but perfectly romantic for the many couples around us) and provide timely service whenever (or slightly before) we needed it. We selected the Trust Alma (tasting menu) item which featured 8 appetizers and mains and also enough dessert to share. We enjoyed all of the dishes. While some of the flavors didn't align with the palate of each individual, the nuances of the flavors and process were observed and experienced. Our most notable and favourite dishes were the scallion bao, the noodles & wonton, the radish cake, the smokey eggplant. Our evening concluded with a memorable cantaloupe sorbet that I'll rave about to anyone.

    The food was all fantastic, we were surprised by how the chef blended asian and italian cultures. The portions were moderate but we did not leave hungry. The value was great, three of us ate dinner for under $250 (only one of us had a glass of wine). A bit of a splurge dinner for us, but definitely worth a return trip.

    An amazing dining experience - staff was awesome, Ben recommended food and some great off the beaten path wines. We all left the meal up to the staff and it was arable we didn’t need to worry about how many each dish served as they all came with six appropriate portions for us to try. Standout dining in Toronto

    Didn’t love the food compared to the hype. Ben was lovely, but definitely a heavy menu.

    Ambience was great, service was good and the food was really nice (aside from the beef/steak course which didn’t quite live up to the rest). Only other complaint is that for a restaurant that identifies itself strongly with wine, they really don’t offer many options by the glass. Minor complaints overall, we really enjoyed our dinner and would recommend.
