Alla Famiglia has been delighting local and traveled guests in this very same location for over two decades. This "diamond in the rough" is conveniently located on the hilltop of Pittsburgh's South Side. Boasting a fine dining atmosphere, its family owned and operated, and promises to deliver a consistent product with every visit. You will be greeted and treated like family, as you enjoy homemade scratch Italian specialties, an award winning wine list, and complex scratch cocktails. Dine in an old world atmosphere under paddle fans, exposed brick, antiquities from all around the world. Six unique and interestingly decorated dining rooms comprises the character of this institution which started with just 8 tables, 25 years ago. Choose from daily provisioned fishes and exotics from the sea, dry and wet aged Prime beef, tender milk fed veal, and homemade maccheroni are just some of the choices you will have to select from. Crown the evening with our pastries prepared on site.

Besides the great food, the most memorable part of our night was our waitress Kaylee. She was incredibly personable, attentive, and overall just an amazing person to guide us through the menu and our special night. We will definitely be coming back, if only to talk with Kaylee one more time.

We have been to Alla Famiglia so many times and last night was the first time we had truly left disappointed. Not only did we have a 35 minute wait with a reservation to then not be seated at the bar, but the food over all was just not as it should be. The Cesar salad was incredibly spicy, the Cacio Peppe was barely cheesey as it was in the cheese wheel for all of 15 seconds (it was clear our waitress does not typically do this), and both of our steaks were burnt. Our serve was pleasant and the manager did come over to apologize for the steak, which we appreciated, however it just was a disappointing experience.

Just fantastic as always. Clinton & Michelle we’re great running the bar. Probably our favorite restaurant in all of Pittsburgh!

Fantastic experience. Great for special occasion. Three course meal includes salad, pasta course, and main course. Everything tasted great, ample portions, great presentation. Service was A+. A bit expensive for some tastes for sure. But, worth the price.

My husband and I had an evening with no children last night so we decided to try Alla Famiglia in Allentown. The food was excellent. The warm fresh bread and spicy olive oil were a delicious start. I also really liked the white bean paste that accompanied the bread. We started with the stuffed banana peppers and porchetta appetizers. Portions were very generous, which was good considering the price. We packed up half the appetizers to go. We had the house salad, which had a delicious vinaigrette and Gorgonzola. For the pasta course we chose the cacio e pepe, which is prepared tableside in a Parmesan wheel. Hands down one of the best things I have ever eaten and well worth the $6 up charge. For the entree we split the veal chop ripieno. It was enormous and delicious and we ended up with a lot of leftovers. I told my husband I think I would have preferred a steak just because it would have been easier to manage and I’m sure also delicious. We finished with a fantastic cannoli. Service was super friendly and attentive. Kudos to our server Jack and his assistant! The pacing was very leisurely. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours. Would definitely recommend, and we’ll certainly return.

The service by Gabriella was top notch. She was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and made our dining experience even better than expected with her suggestions. The food was prepared perfectly and absolutely delicious. Alla Famiglia never misses. It’s our favorite restaurant in the city and we can’t wait until next time.
