Alla Famiglia has been delighting local and traveled guests in this very same location for over two decades. This "diamond in the rough" is conveniently located on the hilltop of Pittsburgh's South Side. Boasting a fine dining atmosphere, its family owned and operated, and promises to deliver a consistent product with every visit. You will be greeted and treated like family, as you enjoy homemade scratch Italian specialties, an award winning wine list, and complex scratch cocktails. Dine in an old world atmosphere under paddle fans, exposed brick, antiquities from all around the world. Six unique and interestingly decorated dining rooms comprises the character of this institution which started with just 8 tables, 25 years ago. Choose from daily provisioned fishes and exotics from the sea, dry and wet aged Prime beef, tender milk fed veal, and homemade maccheroni are just some of the choices you will have to select from. Crown the evening with our pastries prepared on site.

What a wonderful experience! Been meaning to try Alla Famiglia for years. Decided to (finally) reserve, 2 months in advance (necessary for 7 pm on a Saturday convenient for BOTH couples), with dear friends who also love Italian cuisine. Worth the wait! Clinton our server, along with Debbie - plus every last employee with whom we interacted - went above and beyond to welcome us and treat us with courtesy. Because we wanted to try so many different menu items, we ended up taking a lot home. Debbie ensured everything was packaged with care. We tried all the iconic dishes: starting with Meatball Gigante & Fried Provolone, both cut into 4 portions for all to share. Sooo good! Next, ALL delicious salads, followed by, BOTH Cavatappi Alla Vodka & Cacio E Pepe, again divided by 4 with plenty left to take home. (Who KNEW the Cacio E Pepe included one of our favorite cheeses: Locatelli Pecorino??) All four of our entrees were outstanding, even though I had to take the majority of mine, home, by then - followed by a shared S’mores Crème Brûlée between us ladies, enjoyed with coffee or tea. I also ordered burnt almond tiramisu, for later. One of the best dinners (outstanding food & service - not even ONE unsatisfactory occurrence during the entire 3 hours) I’ve had in a while. Alla Famiglia could easily be the best classic Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh, based on personal experience. An all-around, perfect dinner! Bravo!

Our first dinner at Alla Famiglia will not be our last! Friends from Philadelphia were visiting and we all agreed it was excellent. We even bought the sauce sampler. Kaitlyn was an excellent server and very passionate about the restaurant. One suggestion, a lighter dessert like ice cream or gelato.
