Alec’s Restaurant opened in 2010 and has established itself as one of Essex’s leading fish Restaurants. Alec’s prides itself on quality ingredients and exceptional service.
Unwind with a premium bottle of wine or signature cocktail in the comfortable lounge before taking a seat in the elegant main dining room, which can accommodate 120 guests.
Roaring fires in the winter and a delightful outdoor dining area in the summer, only enhance the elegant building.
The menu at Alec’s Restaurant is traditionally British and sets out to provide simple, quality fresh food. Although predominantly a seafood restaurant serving the finest fish and shellfish, mouth-watering meat dishes add to this impressive menu.
We are proud to follow the MSC code of conduct for sustainably sourced seafood. Plus, all seafood and fish are wild and ‘day boat caught’ from across Britain.
Please note that this restaurant operates a strict policy of no children under 12 years, and a smart casual dress code.

I was disappointed with the food, portion size was not very good and all sides had to be added to your order for example you had to add chips and peas to your battered cod it only came as the cod only, had to ask waiter staff a few times for drinks and they also forgot a couple of times, overall the restaurant has a nice atmosphere however the food and service let it down plus prices of the food for what you got wasn’t great either this surprised me following all the good reviews on the website, I will not be booking another reservation anytime soon

Went for the Valentines Dinner, very very busy, had to wait a while for our table so had a drink upstairs and then finally whisked to our table. Starters were lovely, main was good and dessert was great. Great set menu, only issue was price, we thought it was 70pp but it was acc 115pp. Not very clear on the website which was dinner and which was lunch as it was one PDF/page.

Fabulous welcome great table and service,food spot on and good selection of non alcoholic drinks overall faultless,will be going back.

It was my girlfriend’s birthday so through Open Table booked at Alec’s and request a nice table. Upon arrival staff had all the information and were shown to a lovely table. Service and food good was great also. My fav restaurant in the area

We have been to Alec’s several times, food is excellent as always, however we did feel very rushed, our main course arrived very quickly after our starters. The service is good but at a top end restaurant they should know what guest ordered what and shouldn’t have to ask when serving.
