Alec’s Restaurant opened in 2010 and has established itself as one of Essex’s leading fish Restaurants. Alec’s prides itself on quality ingredients and exceptional service.
Unwind with a premium bottle of wine or signature cocktail in the comfortable lounge before taking a seat in the elegant main dining room, which can accommodate 120 guests.
Roaring fires in the winter and a delightful outdoor dining area in the summer, only enhance the elegant building.
The menu at Alec’s Restaurant is traditionally British and sets out to provide simple, quality fresh food. Although predominantly a seafood restaurant serving the finest fish and shellfish, mouth-watering meat dishes add to this impressive menu.
We are proud to follow the MSC code of conduct for sustainably sourced seafood. Plus, all seafood and fish are wild and ‘day boat caught’ from across Britain.
Please note that this restaurant operates a strict policy of no children under 12 years, and a smart casual dress code.

We have been to Alec’s several times, food is excellent as always, however we did feel very rushed, our main course arrived very quickly after our starters. The service is good but at a top end restaurant they should know what guest ordered what and shouldn’t have to ask when serving.

Excellent food and service, as usual. We were there to celebrate our friends' golden wedding anniversary and as a really nice touch, the Restaurant presented them with a "Happy Anniversary" confectionary concoction. The only minus point was that the Waiter told us that Beef Wellington was available as a special without telling us how much it was , three of us chose that as their main course, and it only became apparent when the bill was presented that the dish was charged at £58 per person, when becomes £65 when 12.5% "discretionary" service is include. For lovers of Beef Wellington, beware what you're getting into.

I have been wanting to try Alex's for ages as I had heard such raving reviews. So I booked it for my husbands birthday. What a fabulous evening we had - food was fabulous, service outstanding and it had such a calm and relaxing feel / vibe. Will definitely be coming back very soon.

We went for a birthday lunch with my mum and she thoroughly enjoyed the occasion from the complimentary sparkling wine when we arrived to the dinner and service. Staff were pleasant and attentive throughout.

Lovely food and attentive service as always but had to wait slightly longer than usual although this may be because it was peak service times.

Booked a table for 7:15pm. There were many children in the area we were sat in despite being a couple on our own and space in the main restaurant. There is an over 8 policy yet there was a sub 12 month old baby our area who cried and the parents did nothing! Not the romantic meal we hoped for @£300
