Situé 40 Brattle Street, à Harvard Square, le Alden & Harlow sert des plats américains réfléchis et honnête dans un espace souterrain, moderne et confortable. Cherchant à reproduire le style de cuisine qu'il prépare pour sa famille et ses amis chez lui, le chef Michael Scelfo prépare des plats humbles et sans prétention, qui honorent la tradition du lieu dans sa qualité. Sa façon à lui de se connecter avec tous ceux qui viennent manger à leur table. Bien que les réservations soient fortement recommandés, une partie de la salle à manger et du bar est également gardée pour les clients sans réservation, dans le cas où votre demande ne peut pas être satisfaite. I was so disappointed in our experience. The food was good, but the service was dismal. I only give half the blame to our server, who might have been overworked or inexperienced. Our drinks took 20 minutes to get to us, and just as long for our second round, and we had to ask him if we could please order. But the rest—and the worst—of the blame I give to the manager. After three of our party had been served, and after they had nearly finished their dinners, I had to ask someone to find our server, to learn where my own dinner was. They explained it was about to come out of the kitchen (it was not), and the manager came to our table and said my dinner was coming, and asked if I understood how a kitchen works. Insulting! Kitchens work when people’s orders are brought to table together—or close together. Restaurants work when they acknowledge errors. Had they been gracious and apologized for it, it would have been fine. But pretending there was nothing wrong? Low tip and never to return.

Alden + Harlow is my must-visit restaurant when I’m in town. Unfortunately, on my most recent visit, they let me down. Our server was great at first, taking extreme lengths to help my wife find a wine she’d enjoy. We ordered several dishes— some old favorites and some new ones to try. The service was somewhat slow and the food was often lukewarm or even cold by the time it arrived. Two of our four dishes were not up to the usual A+H standard, the Burrata and Peaches which simply had too much going on to be cohesive and the Chargrilled Broccoli which we found impossible to cut, cold, and served with a bland hummus base. Our server reacted to our disappointment in helpful and appropriate ways, however. We will be back for another try on our next trip to Cambridge. But I might not recommend A+H as heartily to my Boston-bound friends as I have previously until our next visit is as stunning as they have been in the past.

Had a wonderful dinner experience. We were the only diners outside. Beautiful evening -2 heaters so we were more than comfortable. Really interesting and varied menu esp for us pescatarians. Great service. Delightful and delicious.

Enjoyed all the veggie apps and fish mains we tried. Cocktails were excellent. Didn't go for dessert. Very tasty and creative food.

Beautiful space and ambiance. The brunch was a bit overpriced for what it was. I got the focaccia egg sandwich and was disappointed. The fried egg was overcooked, it was way too much bread (and the focaccia was a bit stale), and the bacon was over salted. Wasn’t great and not worth the price.
