Located on the fifth floor of the JW Marriott hotel in Edmonton’s ICE District, Alchemy features an intimate indoor cocktail bar and lounge, as well as a large heated patio overlooking Rogers Place. Serving up handcrafted libations and next-level bar snacks, Alchemy’s menu is composed of a curated collection of both vintage and modern cocktails, highlighting a mix of classic recipes, traditional techniques, unexpected flavours, and avant-garde accents and textures.

For $78 per person, peruse our tea list to find your favourite as you nibble on a delectable selection of sweet and savoury pastries, finger sandwiches and desserts. Concerns, they take your ID and scan it. This is a huge concern with no assurance of what your personal data is being used for or if/how it is being protected. The noise level from the music was absurd. We received noise level warnings to the extent that being there for 30 min could result in temporary hearing loss and if continuous exposure could result in permanent loss. Feel bad for the employees working there. Drinks were delicious but overly priced, average price was $25/cocktail.

We were there for dinner before a show and were seated at a small high top table. We asked to moved to another table that was open to have more room but were told it was reserved. However, we also had a reservation??? There also wasn’t the option to request a specific table online. We felt rushed to eat each item that came as fast as we could to make more room on our small table.

It’s a great experience. The food is just ok. They have a very weird practice of not just checking your ID but recording it and taking your photo. I’ve never received a good explanation for this other than “guest safety” but in an age where identity theft is rampant, it feels invasive and is absolutely unnecessary.

Incredibly happy with our experience at Alchemy! We had a large group reservation and I had a special request which they accommodated perfectly! Service exceptional for a large party! Drinks came out quickly for a large group as well. Very impressed!

Gorgeous patio and cool looking interior. Friendly staff as we. Where things went sideways: took over 20 minutes for arrival of first drink. Claustrophobic friend was denied ability to use stairs so couldn’t come up and join us. This started with concierge at hotel saying the hotel didn’t even have stairs to eventually the stairs being armed. Once we were told the stairs could be accessible, over 35-40 minutes had passed and they had already left. Food wise, for what we paid, it was incredibly underwhelming and bland. Cheese plate was sad. $15 for a mocktail. Grilled cheese bites were cold. Fries were also cold. Just disappointing overall.
