In its bright and colorful restaurant, Alcalde serves modern Mexican cuisine with upscale flair in its friendly, Guadalajara-area eatery. The tostada de atún tuna piled on a crisp tostada with guacamole and radish and the tartar of smoked tomato juice, scalded egg yolk and pickled vegetables make unique and tasty starters. Some of Alcalde's specialty entries include the smoked octopus with vegetable risotto, the duck in adobo sauce with shrimp, chilies and eucalyptus and the juicy steak in pan jus.

Alcalde's coconut parfait with raspberry ice cream, elderberry juice and cilantro makes a perfect end to a delectable meal.

Highly recommend Alcalde! The food was delicious, and everything we ordered was fantastic. The rice pudding dessert was spectacular—a must-try! Wonderful dining experience.

We had a wonderful dinner and service was generally excellent. I think it would have helped if we had sommelier but also if we had some guidance on food ordering 2 of us ordered the delicious pork belly which we could have shared instead (generous in serving size) and then shared some other dish.

The Food was tasty, yet it wasn’t mind blowing. It had enough avant-garde techniques, as well as interesting flavor combinations. For the price, I think we got too many “snacks” instead of actual “tasting dishes”. If we were to come back, we would definitely order “A la carte” instead of tasting menú. Our complementary wine for our celebration was nice.

This was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had, out of thousands of restaurants all over the world. Our waiter, Sam always seemed to appear right as we needed him and was like a worldly magical guide who spoke perfect English and knew every dish’s history and provenance. He was truly someone we would like to have as a friend. The food was deliciously inspirational. We had the dried beef from Leon as an appetizer. It melted in my mouth. My wife had the heirloom tomatoes that mixed amazingly well with the granola. The main dish of octopus was perfectly prepared as was the veal dish. Sam recommended perfect cocktails to complement the meal. All Michelin-star quality.
